1992 Ford Service Manual; Ranger, Explorer, Aerostar (two volume set)

Detroit, Michigan, Ford Motor Company, 1991. Soft Cover, 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall, Very Good/, Two volume set, both books of which are in nice condition. A few errant smudges inside, but very few. Neither volume has a spine crease and there are no names or writing. The smaller volume is devoted in its entirety to the engine, while the larger, which is two and a quarter inches thick, covers the body, chassis and electrical. Abundant technical drawings in both.

Illustrated with small color art featuring finished products and a few small black and white drawings. 46 pages filled with tapioca ideas including chocolate tapioca cream, apple souffle, Minute Tapioca Grape Nuts pudding, fresh strawberry ice cream (no churn), blueberry pie, corn soup, chicken casserole, salmon patties and much more.

Cleveland, Ohio, Wellman Engineering Company, 1944. Hard Cover, Oblong, Very Good/, Handsome oblong book measuring 11-1/4"x8-1/2". Navy blue boards show only light wear. Gilt to face and spine. Book fitted with rigid transparent plastic cover. Pages very clean with no names or writing. Only interior faults are light foxing to first few and last few pages and toning to edges of blue endpapers. A pictorial record of Wellman's engineering triumphs, primarily in excellent black and white photographs showing various products at work, including ore transports, fuel feeds, a hydraulic press, coke oven machinery, mooring mast, unloaders and many other items. But the show-stoppers are the full color paintings -- we counted seven. 123 pages.

A Tryon Palace Trifle or, Eighteenth Century Cookery

Boards are handsome with an orange, brown and white small print design and paste-on title. Only faults are a tiny light stain to the left side of the paste-on and the former owner's name written small at the bottom edge of front pastedown. Otherwise pristine. Handsomely illustrated and printed on a heavy paper. A charming collection of Old English "receipts" for dishes both recognizable and unusual, including some for medicinal purposes. Our favorite is Hysterical Water! What's also lovely is a lengthy decription of the balls held at the Palace contained in a chapter entitled "The Ladies of Olden Days Ate Little at Debutante Balls".

Softcover with a dustjacket. Book itself is clean as a whistle with no fault of note. Dustjacket shows mild edgewear, but will be placed in brand new mylar for protection. Printed in both Japanese and English with a strong emphasis on Japanese. However, the diagrams are in English and parts are clearly indicated with arrows for placement, so it appears that the instructions for building the models are clear in both languages.Models include Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausfuhrung A, B, C, D,E, F1, F2, G, H and J.Illustrated amply with both black and white and color photos augmented by technical drawings. Includes historic photos of the Panzers in action. This one is a bit taller than subsequent volumes measuring 8-1/2"x12". Numbers 2, 4, and 5 also available.

An Album of Birds & Their Young (Player Cigarette Card Album complete)

Soft Cover, Good/, This is a very nice find -- a completed album of Birds and Their Young filled with 51 cigarette cards issued by John Player & Sons, a branch of the Imperial Tobacco Company of Great Britain and Ireland. Measures 5" tall by 7-1/2" wide. Covers show light staining to front and back, but are quite pleasing with their pastel drawing against cream colored cardstock. Pages are very clean with just a few small spots to last one and show three cigarette cards mounted to a page, all featuring birds of the United Kingdom with explanatory material. Nice piece of ephemera for the cigarette card collector. 19 pages.

Antiques; The Diplomatic Reception Rooms United States Department of State (additional Materials laid-in)

, Magazine Antiques, 1987. Soft Cover, 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall, Very Good/, This is a lovely collection of items, all of which relate to the Diplomatic Reception Rooms. The crowning piece is a large full-color copy of the Magazine Antiques from July, 1987 which is dedicated in its entirety to the topic -- the fine architecture of Edward Vason Jones and Allan Greenberg, the architectural redesign of John Blatteau and Walter M. Macomber, the American paintings, the furniture, the silver and gold items, and the Chinese export porcelain. Also included is a separate booklet which masures 8-1/2"x11" and is printed in brown on cream with numnerous photographs. This one showcases items already purchased and in the State Department earmarked for the permanent collection, but in need of committed funds as of 1987. There is also a letter and other items from the Department of State Fine Arts Committee. Very clean and nice.
