An FDC (First Day Cover) honoring Nathaniel Hawthorne that has been hand-signed by Irving Wallace. The unused envelope, with cachet, honors Hawthorne, 1804-1864, who is best known today for his many short stories and his four major romances written between 1850 and 1860; The Scarlet Letter, The House of the Seven Gables, The Blithedale Romance, and the Marble Faun. He is also considered among the first ever to experiment with alternate history as literary form. Irving Wallace, 1916-1990, was an American bestselling author and screenwriter. He was the father of Olympic historian David Wallechinsky and author Amy Wallace. Several films were made from his books, including The Chapman Report, The Prize, The Word, and The Fan Club.
