GHOST TOWNS
N.Y.: Saint Martin's Press / Thomas Dunne Books 2002. 1st Edition November 2002 with complete number line beginning with 1. Fine in fine dust jacket not price clipped with protective mylar cover. Victim Advocate or Victim Witness Chloe Newcomb defines her job in the County Attorney's office as "helping victims of violent crimes through the criminal justice system in any way I can." Actually there's much more to that than meets the eye. The description of "victim" stretches to include not only the muggee or even the murderee. In Chloe's past experience the people she is assigned to help in "whatever way that she can" includes those affected by a disaster even an innocent bystander who has witnessed the event. And since she moved to the small desert town of Dudley Arizona she learned very well that disasters aren't limited to the cities. Chloe's current assignment is to notify the family of a local judge who has disappeared and whose body is subsequently found at the ruins of a deserted hotel in a ghost town near Dudley. She finds the family to be a living illustration of the description "dysfunctional." The widow seems to have been on the verge of collapse before her husband disappeared her live-in mother is an evil-tongued shrew losing no opportunity to worsen the atmosphere. The couple's daughter away at college has cut off all communication with her family something Chloe can hardly blame her for and the pre-teen son is a bewildered angry child. A victim advocate doesn't seem to be what this bereaved family needs. However Chloe feels she can stretch the definition somewhat and see what she can do to solve the mystery of the judge's murder --not only who killed him and why but why in such strange circumstances She has her own reasons as well - her friend Nate a young journalist has disappeared from Dudley after telling Chloe that he had uncovered some information about the judge that would "blow this town apart." Now she fears for his life. Meanwhile she is beginning to feel that she needs a victim advocate herself because not only Nate but her lover Craig has vanished. The county police are investigating the judge's death; it's Chloe's job to be her own victim's advocate seek out the late judge's estranged daughter and more important locate lover Craig and friend Nate both of whom she learns have secrets of their own. 1st Edition. Tognozzi C. (cur.)
Il cicloturismo al tempo del Liberty. 100 percorsi di 100 anni fa. Lombardia e dintorni 1895-1904
ill., br.

Tom Mix and Montie Montana
CALIFORNIANA Tom Mix Rides Again! COLLECTION INCLUDING ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS
Tom Mix was the original 'good guy with the white hat' and the undisputed original 'King of the Cowboys.' He appeared in ~ 300 films between 1909 and 1935 and inspired a generation of youths including Gene Autrey Ronald Reagan Roy Rogers and John Wayne with his clean-cut manly image. Although his film career faded with the advent of 'talking' pictures in the early 1930's still immensely popular he traveled the country with Tony 'the Wonder Horse' as the feature attraction of the Sells-Floto Circus later The Tom Mix Circus. The current collection is from Mix' long-time friend and fellow western stunt man and star Montie Montana famous for leading the New Year's Day Tournament of Roses parade for over 60 years. It includes photographs many 1 seven 8" X 10" vintage movie stills from the '20s; 2 seven 5" x 7" photos most from the 1930 Sells-Floto Circus winter quarters in Peru Indiana; 3 several 8 x 10" photos including a 1940 Karl Obert-stamped photo of Mix and Montana and ~ 50 Rancheros Visitadores riders splashing through a river north of Santa Barbara; Mix and his daughter Ruth who also in the movies; Mix and Tony clowning for the camera; and a candid shot of the damage to Mix' back from a dynamite stunt gone wrong! In 1954 Montana with Mable Mix Tom's last wife founded 'Tom Mix Inc. to present Mix' life in various media; the corporation's original Articles of Incorporation are included in the lot. Then in 1968 the Tom Mix Museum opened in Dewey Oklahoma; the local newspaper published a 64-page 'Souvenir Edition' for the Museum's Grand Opening. The collection contains three copies one autographed by Mix' daughter 'Sincerely Ruth Mix June 1 1968 along with two Museum brochures. In the mid-1970's two L.A. entertainment veterans formed 'Nito Productions' registering the service mark 'The Tom Mix Show' and moved to produce a series of 1/2 hour television programs to star actor Dean Smith. Copies of the service mark application a detailed budget for the proposed first segment 'The Ghost of Panther Mountain' and related correspondence are included in the collection. Also included are First Editions of three books on Mix from Montie Montana's library each signed by Montana two inscribed by its author to Montana and stamped with his brand. Also included is a 3-page 1991 letter to Montana from the then-owner of the saddle that Mix had made for daughter Ruth accompanied by a photograph of the saddle. The collection includes an unused example of 'Tom Mix Circus' letterhead and envelope. Tom Mix was a bonafide cultural icon; this wide-ranging collection assembled by a contemporary who knew Mix well documents his career and the continuing influence he has had on the image of the American West. unknown

Tomatis Francesco
Filosofia della montagna
br.
