Joseph Marie Soulary, dit Joséphin Soulary (né le 23 février 1815 à Lyon et mort le 28 mars 18911 à Lyon) était le fils d'un commerçant de Lyon d'origine génoise (Solari). Sa maîtrise des difficultés techniques de son art, en particulier dans le sonnet, lui valut le titre de "Benvenuto de la rime". Membre de l'Académie des sciences, belles-lettres et arts de Lyon, il reçut deux fois le prix Vitet de l’Académie française, en 1878 et en 1891 pour l'Ensemble de son œuvre poétique. Schweizer Fotobücher 44 ff. - Text in Deutsch und Französisch. - Eduard Spelterini (1852-1931) unternahm zwischen 1870 und 1926 fast 600 Ballon-Fahrten und gilt als Pionier der Luftfotografie. - "(M)it knapp hundert Luftaufnahmen, wiedergegeben als herrliche grossformatige Bilder in Kupferdruck, die meisten im Format 17 × 23 Zentimeter. Tatsächlich unterschied sich dieses Buch gehörig von vergleichbaren Publikationen jener Zeit. Während Letztere meistens Aufnahmen verschiedener Agenturen versammelten, ohne dass eine namentliche Nennung der Fotografen erfolgte, stellt sich Über den Wolken/Par dessus les nuages als Denkmal zu Ehren eines einzigen Mannes heraus: des Schweizer Ballon- und Fotopioniers Eduard Spelterini (1852-1931). Gleich auf dem Titelblatt prangt sein Porträt und weist damit ohne Umschweife den Urheber der Fotografien als das eigentliche Thema des Buchs aus. ... Tatsächlich hatte Spelterini, der eigentlich Eduard Schweizer hiess, seine ersten Flüge in den 1870er-Jahren unternommen und den Höhepunkt seines Ruhms um die Jahrhundertwende erlebt. Damals empfing der "Herr der Lüfte", als den ihn Émile Gautier in "Mon ami Spelterini" bezeichnet (S. 8), die europäische High Society im Korb seines Ballons, während am Boden Massen von Zuschauern gegen Geld seinen Starts beiwohnten. Relativ spät, nämlich rund 15 Jahre nach seinen ersten Flügen, wandte sich der Ballonfahrer dem Medium der Fotografie zu, um seine Grosstaten zu dokumentieren, die er dann auf unzähligen Lichtbildvorträgen auf der ganzen Welt präsentierte. ...
