‎Erste Ausgabe, dieses ebenso seltenen wie außergewöhnlichen Künstlerbuches. - "Created by a Mayan community during a book arts workshop, Bolom Chon is the name of a song, a name that throughout the book changes meaning and transforms into something different. The book is in the Tzotzil dialect and in English. It is completely handmade and the covers and insides of the covers consist of jaguar paws and spots. The book also comes with its own CD with several versions of the song Bolom Chon, as well as a pop-out centerfold jaguar and a paper face mask of a jaguar. - What is especially important and interesting about this book is a small detail I learned after attending Lauri Gonzalez's talk [...] Gonzalez said, and I paraphrase, Bolom Chon, for example, challenges the way in which the Western world gathers information. The creation of a book like Bolom Chon is created within the community, thus allowing the people to communicate and create and share knowledge in their language/dialects and culture(s) collectively." (Univ. of Iowa Special Collections). - Einband aus handgeschöpftem Papier, tief geprägt mit dem Titel in Schwarz und Rot auf dem Vorderdeckel und mit "Jaguarspuren" in Gelb auf beiden Deckeln. Die gelben Vorsatzblätter sind aus Agavefasern gefertigt und in der Art der Jaguarkostüme des Tzotzil-Rituals bedruckt. Die Textseiten sind von Maya-Künstlern mit Siebdrucken versehen und mit den Worten des Bolom Chun-Liedes bedruckt. Dem Buch ist eine Audio-CD beigefügt, auf der ein indigenes Kind das Lied in Tzotzil singt. In der Mitte des Buches öffnet sich ein Pop-up mit einem Jaguarkopf und eine Jaguarmaske ist lose beigelegt. - In allen Teilen sehr gut erhalten.‎

‎4to. (5), 129 ff. German and Latin manuscript on paper, written in a 17th century hand. With 3 heraldic crosses showing the coats of arms of the Teutonic Order (a black cross) and 4 drawings showing costumes of several members of the order, all executed in watercolours with some albumen highlights. 20th century calf, blind-ruled double fillet borders on both boards, spine ruled in blind and lettered in green. Highly interesting 17th century German manuscript of the Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem, commonly known as the Teutonic or German Order. Founded in 1190, it was primarily founded as a military society with its Teutonic Knights serving crusadings Christians in the Holy Land during the Middle Ages. In time, the Order also developed into a Catholic religious institution, although it would not lose its military function until the 20th century. - The present manuscript opens with a short history of the Order, beginning with the year 1190 and ending in 1606. It continues with the statutes, divided into several chapters, which are interspersed with prayers in Latin. This combination of statutes and prayers gives evidence that the Teutonic Order was not merely a military order, but also had a strong focus on religion. This is also reflected in the liturgical calendar, which is part of a chapter of the statutes, listing the saints and their feast days as celebrated by the Order. The end of the work (fol. 125) states that Maximilian III of Austria approved the statutes. Maximilian (1558-1618) was the Grand Master of the Order from 1585 until his death. The date 1606, as well as his passing in 1618, suggest that the manuscript was written in the first quarter of the 17th century. - The last five leaves of the manuscript appear to contain the names of the Landkomturs who ruled the various bailiwicks of the Holy Roman Empire's commanderies. These Landkomturs, subordinate to the Grand Master, were very often important German noblemen. - Uncommonly for this type of text, this manuscript is illustrated: the first illustrated leaf shows three black crosses, forming the arms of the Teutonic Order, including that of the Grand Master. The Grand Master's coat of arms is a black cross with a golden cross superimposed upon it, with an imperial eagle in the centre. It continues with four illustrations showing the typical costumes of several members of the Order. The second illustration in this series shows the white overcoats bearing a black cross, such as were typically worn by the Knights since 1205. - Only a few very minor spots, overall in very good condition. According to a 21st century inscription in pencil on the first endpaper, the manuscript was formerly part of the collection of the Belgian historian and politician Philippe Kervyn de Volkaersbeke (1815-81). Altogether a rare survival, and a rich source of information on the formal organisation of the most important 17th century German Order, but also on their statutes and their religious customs and habits. The manuscript beautifully reflects the religious as well as the military character of the Teutonic Order.‎

‎Wohl an die Pianistin Marie Hartzer-Stibbe in Hamburg: "[...] Mit Wehmut gedenke ich der friedlichen Konzert-Abende in Ihrer Stadt sowie Ihres mir hierbei stets erwiesenen gütigen Interesses. Nun fügt es der Zufall, daß ich Mitte Oktober mit meinem Trio auf der Reise nach Dänemark - das dortige erste Konzert findet in Aalborg statt - Ihre Stadt passiere. Sie würden uns eine besondere Gefälligkeit erweisen, falls Sie es einrichten oder veranlassen könnten, daß wir zu einem Anschluß-Konzert engagiert würden [...]" - Einen zentralen Platz im Leben Mayer-Mahrs nahm die pädagogische Tätigkeit ein. Von 1892 bis 1937 unterrichtete er am Klindworth-Scharwenka-Konservatorium in Berlin. Ab 1907 war er Mitglied im Preisrichter-Kollegium des Ibach-Wettbewerbs für Nachwuchskünstler am Sternschen Konservatorium in Berlin und bis 1933 Mitglied des Senats der Akademie der Künste in Berlin als Sachverständiger in musikpädagogischen Angelegenheiten. Er emigrierte nach Norwegen und Schweden.‎

Er starb in seinem 1874 errichteten Tutzinger Landhaus (heute: Hauptstr. 19, Boecke).‎

Le principal était une Histoire universelle (Akhbār az-zamān), qu'il entreprit en 943, sorte de vaste encyclopédie historico-géographique en trente livres. Ensuite il écrivit un Livre moyen (Kitāb al-awsat), complément du précédent, qui est un récit chronologique des événements de l'histoire humaine depuis la création du monde. Les Prairies d'or sont un abrégé en cent trente-deux chapitres de la matière contenue dans les deux compositions précédentes. Le Livre de l'avertissement et de la révision, son dernier ouvrage, en est un autre résumé bien plus mince (un cinquième environ), mais avec des compléments et perfectionnements sur certains points. Ces abrègements étaient destinés à faciliter la diffusion du contenu des deux premiers ouvrages. Al-Mas'ûdî ou Al-Masudi ou Maçoudi (en arabe: علی بن حسین مسعودی Abū al-Ḥasan 'Alī ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn 'Alī al-Mas'ūdī), né à Bagdad à la fin du IXe siècle, mort à Fostat en septembre 956, est un encyclopédiste et polygraphe arabe, à l'apogée de l'islam classique. Ses Murūj adh-dhahab wa-ma'ādin al-jawhar, ou Prairies d'or et mines de pierres précieuses, resteront jusqu'au milieu du XVe siècle le manuel de référence des géographes et des historiens de langue arabe ou persane. ‎Eintrag aus einem Gästebuch. - Maître gilt als einer der beiden jungen Männer, die beim Aufstand des 17. Juni 1953 Steine auf einen russischen Panzer werfen. Nach der Teilnahme am 17. Juni und der Flucht in den Westen studiert er bis 1961 in Innsbruck und Bonn Literatur, Geografie und Psychologie. Danach folgen einige Jahre als Auslandskorrespondent der "Welt", als Dozent an der University of Nigeria und schließlich als Deutsch-Professor an der McGill University in Montreal. 1976 ist er dort deutscher Olympia-Attaché. Maître wird anschließend Leitender Redakteur im Axel Springer Verlag und zieht 1983 in die USA. Dort lebte und lehrte er - zeitweise im eigenen Institut - an der Boston University.‎
