Aber dann sagte ich mir, daß Sie nicht wissen konnten, daß ich seit vielen Monaten keine Stunde ohne Schmerzen mehr habe und an einem Buch schreibe. Und dann habe ich also ohne Groll geschrieben. ‎An Karl Mey (1879-1945): "[...] Ihren Bericht über den Stand der Zeitschriftenfrage habe ich mit bestem Dank erhalten und mit Interesse gelesen: Die Sache ist natürlich sehr schwierig, da wegen der Not der Zeit die Zahl der Zeitschriften eingeschränkt, der Druck verkürzt werden soll [...]. Unser Ziel muss sein: 1) eine Zeitschrift für kurze, schnell erscheinende Mitteilungen 2) eine Zeitschrift für etwas längere Abhandlungen. 1) wird die Verhandlungen sein 2) die Annalen. Wenn nun noch die 'Physikalische Zeitschrift', die eigentlich mit den 'Verhandlungen' konkurriert eingeht, so würde ich die große Sache für wohl geordnet halten. Vom Eingehn der Physikalischen Zeitschrift scheint aber in Ihren Besprechungen nicht die Rede gewesen zu sein. Ferner sollen, wie es scheint, die Annalen auch zu ganz kurzen Mitteilungen dienen, danach würde sie auch mit den 'Verhandlungen' in Konkurrenz treten, was ich eigentlich für überflüssig halte [...]. Beide müssten offizielle Organe der D. P. G. sein. Ich hoffe, dass Sie in Nauheim diese Abänderungen Ihrer Vorschläge noch einfügen lassen werden [...]". - Im September 1920 fand in Nauheim die erste Naturforscherversammlung nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg statt. Dabei ging es auch um eine, vor allem von "den Kandidaten der Rechten - Johannes Stark, Philipp Lenard und Max Wien" forcierte Restrukturierung des Wissenschaftsbetriebes. "Die Konflikte waren in den vorangegangenen zwei Jahren durch die scheinbar anmaßende Umstrukturierung der von der DPG oder in Kooperation mit ihr herausgegebenen Physikerzeitschriften eskaliert. Im Ergebnis dieser Umstrukturierungen waren zwei neue Fachzeitschriften gegründet worden: die 'Zeitschrift für Physik' [...] und die 'Physikalischen Berichte" (Hoffmann/Walker, S. 50 ff). - Der Physiker Karl Mey leitete seit 1909 die AEG-Glühlampenfabrik und nach ihrer Ausgliederung in der OSRAM G.m.b.H. KG deren Forschungs- und Entwicklungsabteilung. - Max Wien war ein Vetter des berühmten Physikers Wilhelm Wien (1864-1928) und selbst seit 1911 Direktor des Physikalischen Instituts an der Universität Jena. 1920 holte Wien Erwin Schrödinger (1887-1961) nach Jena, der aber nur ein halbes Jahr blieb. - Gelocht. - Vgl.
