Il prévient son "maître et ami" qu'il doit quitter Paris avant la 50eme des Marionnettes (comédie créée à la Comédie Française le 26 octobre 1910) et l'invite le soir même à une petite fête qu'il organise pour l'occasion. La carte est un billet d'excuses : "Je ne réclame jamais. Vous le savez. Je ne sais pas ce qui m'a pris!".‎

‎An den Maler August von Heyden (1827-1897) in Berlin, dem er für sein scharfes Urteil über den Berliner Verlag Grote in einem Brief dankt. Die dritte Auflage ds "Rattenfänger" und die vierte Auflage des "Till" seien im Stereotypdruck hergestellt worden, so daß keine Korrekturen möglich waren. Grote gehe "davon aus den Rattenfänger in großem Format illustrirt, wie der 'Trompeter' [von Scheffel] von A. v. Werner illustrirt ist. Wenn er doch nur Sie darum bitten wollte! und dann nicht vergeblich! Aber er denkt an Paul Thumann, den ich persönlich kenne und verehre, aber mein Buch sähe ich tausendmal lieber in Ihren Händen [...]"‎

Ich komme mir wie ein unbrauchbarer Habenichts vor, aber ich habe in diesen Monaten keine Zeit zum Schlafen u. kann mir nicht den Luxus gönnen, artig und herzlich zu sein - wie es mein Herz so gerne möchte ..." - Louise Wolff führte nach dem Tod ihres Mannes Hermann Wolff dessen Konzertagentur weiter und erhielt wegen ihrer dominanten Rolle im Berliner Musikleben den Beinamen "Königin Louise". Sie organisierte die Konzerte der Berliner Philharmoniker, war bekannt mit Gustav Mahler, Bruno Walter und Wilhelm Furtwängler und verhalf dem erst 13-jährigen Yehudi Menuhin mit seinem Debutkonzert zu unmittelbarem Weltruhm..‎
