‎Unbekanntes Bildnis, mit "Beffchen". - Seiler folgte 1770 einem Ruf an die Universität Erlangen und wurde vierter Professor der Theologie. 1772 setzte er sich dafür ein, dass ein Predigerseminar gegründet wurde, in diesem Jahr wurde er zum dritten theologischen Professor sowie zum Universitätsprediger ernannt.‎

‎An den Schriftsteller Hans von Hopfen (1835-1904). - I. "Schon dieser Tage nahm ich mir die Freiheit indirect mich an Herrn Dr. Laube mit der Bitte zu wenden, Sie zu veranlassen, mir Ihr Stück 'Aschenbrödel in Böhmen' zum Benefice überlassen zu wollen. Wir hatten mit dem Benedix'schen 'Aschenbrödel' in dem ich die Hauptrolle spielte, hier so viel Glück, daß schon ein gewisses Gefühl der Vorahnung mich zu Ihrem Lustspiele zieht [...]" - II. Schreibt von den Schwierigkeiten, die seinem "vortrefflichen Stücke sich entgegen stellten. Ich habe mich so auf dessen Aufführung gefreut! Ihre Heldin paßt auch sehr zu meiner Individualität - doch in der Freude, die ich bei der Lectüre über Rolle und Stück empfand, achtete ich kaum auf das was man später als allzugroße Czechenfeindlichkeit tadelte. Um alle Bedenken zu besiegen, wurde Oberstlandmarschall Fürst Auersperg veranlaßt, uns seine Protection zu leihen, aber ehe er mit der Lecture zu Ende war, wußten wir bereits daß die Censur äußern werde: 'Es ginge mit dem Stück während des Ausnahmezustandes nicht' [...]" Sie schließt mit dem Wunsch, daß er sich, wenn das Stück sein Bühnenleben beginne, der Schauspielerin erinnere, die sich zu seinem Stück zuerst hingezogen gefühlt habe und "wohl nicht durch ihr Verschulden von demselben getrennt wurde". - Karoline Seitler aus Wien spielte als Naive im Deutschen Landestheater in Prag bis zu ihrer Heirat mit dem österr. Hauptmann Münzberg 1872.‎

‎An den Redakteur Willy Ganske in Leipzig, dem er ein Manuskript mit seinem Lebenslauf übersendet sowie mit einem Brief über seine ausgedehnte Tätigkeit als Direktor der Königlichen Akademie für graphische Künste und Buchgewerbe zu Leipzig (mit deren blindgepr. Briefkopf) sowie über die Gründung eines Pommerschen Künstlervereins. - Seliger wurde 1901 Direktor der Königlichen Akademie für graphische Künste und Buchgewerbe in Leipzig. Er nahm eine Neuausrichtung dieser Anstalt vor und stellte dabei die Werkstatt des Kunstschaffenden in den Vordergrund. 1914 begründete er die Leipziger Ausstellung für Buchgewerbe und Graphik. Er schuf vorwiegend monumentale Wandgemälde, Glasmalereien und Mosaiken für zahlreiche öffentliche Gebäude, unter anderem für das Reichstagsgebäude und für die Eingangshalle der Deutschen Bücherei Leipzig.‎

‎Fine Turkish Original typescript letter signed by Semavi Eyice. Some autograph corrections as well by Eyice. 31x22,5 cm. In Turkish. Twenty lines. 7.5.1981 dated. He mentions Fatih Mosque in Silivri which transformed from an old Byzantine church. The letter includes very interesting information Silivri, and Selimbria, with its ancient name. For instance, in the 1960s, the district governor of Silivri sold the land of this church/mosque for five Turkish Lira per square meter. In addition to this, he says that Silivri is a Turkish district were always destroyed its own historical artifacts. In the continuation of the letter, he indicates that he adds to this sending an off-print including his article related to the Byzantine monuments in Thrace and containing mentioned church in Silivri.‎

‎Very Good Turkish Original concert program signed and inscribed by Semiha Berkdoy. 24x12 cm (Folded size). Folded. 8 p., fully ills. Signed and inscribed by Berksoy. Semiha Berksoy was a Turkish opera singer and painter. Berksoy started her acting career in the role of Semiha in the first Turkish sound movie Istanbul Sokaklarinda directed by Muhsin Ertugrul in 1931. She was cast in operettas in Istanbul theaters early in her career. She sang in the first Turkish opera Özsoy in 1934 (commissioned by Kemal Atatürk, composed by Adnan Saygun). She was honored as the First Turkish Opera Singer and awarded the opportunity to go to Berlin Music Academy for further training. She started her international singing career in 1934, performing in Turkey, Germany, and Portugal, becoming known as a Wagnerian soprano. In 1939, for the 75th birthday of Richard Strauss in Berlin, she sang the role of Ariadne in Ariadne Auf Naxos, becoming the first Turkish prima donna to perform on stage in Europe. Back in Turkey, she worked with Carl Ebert helping him in his efforts to create the Turkish State Opera and Ballet. This initiative leads to the creation of the Experimental Stage of the Ankara State Conservatory 1940. She retired from the Istanbul Opera in 1972. She was decorated with the "Atatürk Opera Award" at the 50th-anniversary ceremonies commemorating the introduction of women's rights to vote and to be elected. She received the title of "State Artist" in Turkey in 1998. Following her retirement, she remained active mostly as a theater artist. Four years preceding her death, at the age of 90, she appeared in a dramatic scene singing Liebestod in Robert Wilson's opera The Days Before: Death, Destruction and Detroit III at the Lincoln Center in New York City (1999).‎

He describes some of his travels in Turkey and started to paint some still-life paintings, especially of quince and black grapes. A long letter by Akdik. "Seref Akdik is a Postwar & Contemporary painter. Their work was featured in exhibitions at the Doku Art Gallery, Istanbul, and the Cer Modern. Seref Akdik's work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from $11,756 USD to $28,091 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork. Since 1998 the record price for this artist at auction is $28,091 USD for Keman Kalesi ve Pazari, mountain village scene, sold at Bill Hood & Sons Art & Antique Auctions in 2016. Seref Akdik was born in 1899 and was primarily inspired by the 1900s and 1910s. The first decades of the twentieth century were characterized by vibrant developments in pictorial art. ‎Superbe manuscrit à propos des écrivains Alfred de Vigny, Victor Hugo, Alfred de Musset, Lamartine et Baudelaire. Il fait une analyse pertinente et détaillée sur les raisons pour lesquelles de Vigny n’est pas reconnu à sa juste valeur, ce qu’il condamne avec sincérité et objectivité. « Y a-t-il une gloire plus pure que la sienne ? Si Hugo, Musset, Lamartine, ses grands émules sont plus célèbres et plus populaires, c’est qu’ils avaient pour charmer la foule, autre chose que leur génie. Ceux que ravit une virtuosité grandiloquente et creuse, ceux qui abordent la littérature avec une mentalité de politiciens, ceux qui confondent la poésie avec l’amour et l’amour avec la sensualité, ceux qui, faute de pouvoir penser nettement et de savoir ce qu’ils veulent, se prennent pour de nostalgiques rêveurs, toute cette basse couche du public littéraire trouve dans les parties inférieures de l’œuvre de Hugo, Musset, Lamartine même, de qui se satisfaire, de quoi faire à ces grands poètes une célébrité éclatante et mêlée. Mais on n’aime guère Vigny que si l’on aime la poésie pour elle-même et, avec la poésie, la pensée. Quelqu’un disait – dans cette même revue : " on le lit trop peu, je vois trop son nom dans les jeunes revues". Je pense bien, quant à moi, que Vigny est lu de tous ceux qui peuvent le comprendre, et je crois aussi qu’il ne faut pas trop " jeune" pour l’admirer à bon escient. Il y a déjà ; si je ne me trompe, un peu de snobisme dans la vogue dont jouit aujourd’hui, dans un certain milieu, quoi qu’on en dise, Alfred de Vigny. Le noble poète, dans la dernière strophe de l’Esprit pur, se souhaitait une gloire durable et sans mélange, c’est-à-dire limitée à une rare élite… ». Il poursuit avec une description élogieuse de l’œuvre de Vigny qu’il défend avec ferveur et admiration, en n’hésitant pas à critiquer l’œuvre des grands écrivains de l’époque. « Son œuvre, qui est peu étendue, est une des plus inégales qui soient. Tout y est à lire, parceque tout, ou peu s’en faut, y est significatif, mais ceux qui, chez un poète cherchent avant tout de la beauté, peuvent s’en tenir à un petit nombre de pages, dont le charme est vraiment inépuisable. Certains vers de Vigny ont une intensité d’accent, une profondeur et une pureté de résonnance, une puissance indéfinie de suggestion, une magie pour tout dire, que Baudelaire a peut-être possédée, avec une générosité et une chasteté qu’on chercherait en vain dans Les Fleurs de Mal. Il n’y a rien de plus humain et de plus angélique que certains vers d’Alfred de Vigny. S’il émeut si fort, c’est sans doute qu’il n’a pas considéré son art comme un jeu, un moyen de briller, une voie pour atteindre le succès, c’est qu’il a pris la poésie au sérieux. Hugo nous tombe des mains après dix pages de lecture ; et nous relisons dix fois La Maison du Berger, sûrs d’y trouver toujours un enchantement. Les admirables poèmes sont peu nombreux, douze ou quinze tout au plus : c’est que Vigny, dans sa haute conscience de poète et d’homme ne se répétait pas. On profane son émotion si l’on en fait la matière de plusieurs poèmes ; on s’affaiblit littérairement en se répétant. La Colère de Sanson n’est si saisissante et si belle que parce qu’elle est unique ». Enfin, il termine son manuscrit engagé en insistant sur la personnalité de Vigny « On ne saurait assez aimer Vigny, qui parce qu’il était foncièrement généreux, a trouvé dans le pessimisme une source inattendue de pitié, de tendresse, d’amour. Certains vers de lui, tous pénétrés de larmes, sont dignes de notre adoration. Mais il faut le plaindre d’avoir ignoré la foi, l’espoir, la vigueur et la santé de l’âme, tout ce qui prête un sens à la vie et nous donne la force de vivre ; il faut le plaindre d’avoir été l’homme qui, après une nuit passée à lire ou à étudier dans sa tour au Maine-Giraud, fermait les rideaux pour ne pas voir le lever de l’abominable aurore. En général, nous lisons légèrement et superficiellement : Il est peut être providentiel qu’il en soit ainsi et que nous demandions aux œuvres littéraires de nous charmer plutôt que de nous instruire. Ce grand poète fut un grand malheureux, et ses vers causeraient le malheur de beaucoup d’entre nous, si nous le prenions au sérieux, en les lisant, comme il faisait en les écrivant… ».‎

Marbled quarter-cloth Hardcover. Cover worn and stained. Cover edges worn. Spine bumped in several places. 1 small wormhole extends throughout the book, including the cover - NO damage to text. Two slightly smaller holes extend from the rear endpaper to page 57, with very little damage to several letters in the text - text still readable. Pen inscription on whitepage. Hebrew title page and pages 3-13 and VI-VIII stained near edges with no damage to text. Pages slightly yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This eloquent treatise on the language of the Jewish prayer-book has suffered some damage, but is still in good reading condition.‎

‎Very Good Italian Original typescript document signed by Seyh Süleyman Kaslioglu. 30x21 cm. In Italian. Sealed by 'Rhodes Müftülügü'. 1 p. "He was the leader of the Turkish Community in Rhodes, the mufti, clergyman. During the Second World War in 1943, Nazi Germany eventually invaded Greece and moved from there to the Aegean Islands. Thus, soon after, Rhodes fell into the hands of the Nazis. They were confiscating the property of the Jews living on the island and closing the synagogues. Under these circumstances, Süleyman Kaslioglu offered to keep the Torah and other Hebrew books he received from clergy and citizens in the Murad Reis Mosque. But most of the Jews were taken to the concentration camp. Of the 1673 Jews who went to Rhodes from the concentration camp, only 151 were able to return.
