<p>Lewis Melville is the pen-name of Lewis Saul Benjamin 1874-1932 an English author best known for his studies of 18th century literature particularly his study of Thackeray.</p><p>In addition to his literary studies he briefly worked as an actor.</p><p>Not All the Truth his is tongue-in-cheek autobiography written with distinctive humour and wit.</p><p>Included with this book are four letters from the author addressed to someone identified only as "My dear Grundy." In one letter Melville refers to this individual as a "retired special correspondent."</p><p>The book is in Fair condition. The fabric is worn off on the bottom front cover and the spine fabric has separated from the back cover. Internally the books is sound and the binding tight.</p><p>Melville's obituary from the Daily Mail has been stuck in the book at the end of Preface and labeled with the source and date.</p> Jarrolds Publishers hardcover
