Blake wrote these aphorisms in 1788 and printed them in the 1790s shortly after his invention of "illuminated printing". This edition was published the same year as William Muir's facsimile; no priority between the two editions has been established. Octavo. 12 illustrated plates printed in reddish brown 9 tinted by hand in black 3 in colour all loose as issued. Original blue wrappers printed in black.
