Eighteenth-Century British Books. An Author Union Catalogue extracted from the British Museum General Catalogue of Printed Books, the Catalogues of the Bodleian Library, Oxford and of the University Library, Cambridge.
5 vols., folio; cloth, gilt backs, a fine copy. Project for Historical Biobibliography (PHIBB), University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.The second set of a series intended to provide increasingly complete listings of eighteenth-century printed materials. ROBINSON Ltd W. H.
Catalogue 77: A Selection of extremely rare and important Printed Books and ancient Manuscripts. BRIGHT, CLEAN COPY
Roy. 8vo., First Edition, with fine sepia-toned frontispiece, very numerous sepia-toned facsimiles in the text and 2 splendid folding sepia-toned facsimiles; printed boards, covers mildly age-soiled else a very good, crisp copy. Robinson catalogues from the immediate post-war period are acclaimed as much for their intrinsic production values as for their reflection of the last 'golden age' of rarities. No. 77 is no exception containing as it does no fewer than 194 outstanding items, including the first book printed in the English language - Caxton's History of Troy (1485) - a MS of Bede's Ecclesiastical History (c. AD 820), a broadside ballad from Virginia (1623) constituting the earliest known American verse and Hariot's Artis Analyticae Praxis (1631) - the fundamental work on algebraic equations. As usual the catalogue is compehensively indexed

One Hundred Years of Savings Banking - Including Comprehensive Bibliography on Thrift Co-operation and Good Management as it Relates to Thrift
89 pages. This wonderful association copy was presented to one of it's compilers, Ina Clement, by Milton W. Harrison, Secretary of the American Bankers Association, Savings Bank Section. Mr. Harrison wrote the Preface and his name is included on the title page as Publisher, representing the American Banker's Association. The bibliography lists references in the following categories: Thrift and Savings; Individual Thrift; Domestic Thrift; Evidences of Thriftlessness; Economics of Thrift; National Thrift; International Thrift; Thrift Agencies. Average wear. Black cloth binding intact, but for a hairline opening at page 33. Gilt lettering upon backstrip and front board clearly legible.
