Finely printed edition of Dante's epic poem The Divine Comedy c.1310-14 a supreme meditation on vice virtue and humanity's relationship with the Divine that is widely regarded as the supreme achievement of classic Italian literature. The type is a special casting of Frederic Goudy's Kennerly Italic combined with a small Roman capital. The paper is mould-made manufactured in England. The three volumes are bound in a strong hand-made parchment paper gold-stamped on the spine and sides and are enclosed in a cloth-covered box with a ribbon pull. Quarto three volumes. Prospectus laid in. The bookplate of collector Donald Lee Williams appears on each front pastedown. The spines are a touch tanned; else a very good or better set. The Grabhorn Press hardcover
