Three girls come to Hollywood to make it big with their rock band "The Kelly Affair" stopping first to visit Kelly MacNamara's 1966 Playboy Playmate Dolly Read estranged aunt. Kelly's aunt introduces the band comprised of Kelly Read Casey Anderson 1968 Playboy Playmate Cynthia Myers and Petronella Danforth Marcia McBroom to a flamboyant producer named Ronnie "Z-Man" Barzell John LaZar who changes their name to "The Carrie Nations" and has them perform at one of his orgiastic parties after a set by Strawberry Alarm Clock. Throughout the success of the new band the girls use drugs and alcohol attempt to maintain romantic relationships even a lesbian tryst with Erica Gavin director Meyer's "Vixen" and find "Z-Man" to be a murderous transsexual. <br /> <br /> The film proved to be sexploitation and exploitation to its psychedelic limits at the time was Meyer's biggest box-office draw to date and gave the director a new audience: mainstream filmgoers in mainstream cinemas. Originally intended as a sequel to <br /> "Valley of the Dolls" 1967 with an original screenplay by Jacqueline Susann Twentieth Century-Fox found the script unsatisfactory and sought new material. The film was released as part of a settlement with Susann with the disclaimer "This is not a sequel to VALLEY OF THE DOLLS." One of few X-rated films released by Twentieth Century-Fox another being "Myra Breckenridge" 1970. <br /> <br /> Pam Grier got her start in this film as an uncredited party attendant. Other films in his "Gothic" period include "Mudhoney" 1965 "Motorpsycho!" 1965 and the epic and legendary "Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! " 1965. "Fanny Hill" 1964 snuck in right after "Lorna" although that film is generally left out of the "Gothic" period. <br /> <br /> "Lorna" was written by James Griffith who stars as the Preacher narrator of the film and stars Lorna Maitland as a voluptuous sexually unfulfilled newlywed. One day while Lorna skinny-dips in a nearby river an escaped convict Bradley rapes her in the reeds. Lorna invites the convict into her home while her husband is gone prompting Jim's coworkers among them the underrated Hal Hopper to tease him about Lorna's infidelity. La teoria di uno scassinatore casuale non quadra con i fatti: si tratta certamente di omicidio premeditato. Il procuratore Markham non è convinto, ma pochi giorni dopo un secondo omicidio ha luogo nella vecchia casa Greene; questa volta è proprio Chester a venire ucciso, sempre con una rivoltella. La canarina assassinata La bella Margaret Odell, famosa bellezza Broadway ed ex-Follies ragazza conosciuta come "The Canary", viene trovata assassinata nel suo appartamento. Ha un certo numero di uomini della sua vita, che vanno dall'alta società a gangster, e più di un uomo ha visitato il suo appartamento nella notte fatidica E 'un intuizione caratteristica di Philo Vance che lo porta a un indizio chiave e gli permette di scoprire un alibi molto intelligente e rivelare l'assassino. Tutto ciò avviene entro i confini delle grandi case adiacenti New York di proprietà di tre matematici, creando un universo bizzarro e la storia si svolge nel corso di una nebbiosa aprile.<br />Gli abitanti sono professor Dillard, uno scienziato famoso, che vive con la figlia adottiva Belle e la sua protetta Sigurd; poi dall'altra parte della strada c'è la signora Drucker e suo figlio Adolph, un quasi-genio che lavora sulla teoria quantistica; e infine c'è Pardee, che è un mago degli scacchi e che, come Robin, è innamorato di Belle. Mentre i corpi iniziano ad accumularsi e l'aria di follia aleggia... La dea della vendetta L'archeologo Donald Scarlett si presenta trafelato di prima mattina in casa di Philo Vance per riferirgli una tragica notizia. Entrando nel museo privato attiguo alla casa del noto egittologo Mindrum W.C. Bliss ha scoperto il cadavere di Benjamin F. Kyle, finanziatore delle spedizioni archeologiche guidate dal dottor Bliss, per il quale Scarlett lavora. Il filantropo è stato ucciso da un violento colpo alla testa sferrato con una pesante statua in pietra raffigurante Sakhmet, la dea egizia della vendetta. Vance avverte immediatamente il suo amico John F.X. Markham, il procuratore distrettuale di New York, e insieme si recano sulla scena del crimine. Subito balzano agli occhi diversi elementi che puntano verso la colpevolezza del dottor Bliss: impronte nel sangue lasciate da una scarpa da tennis del dottore, un antico scarabeo montato in una spilla da cravatta appartenente a Bliss si trova vicino al cadavere, e, come tocco finale, le impronte digitali del dottore sono le sole ritrovate sulla statua. Markham e il sergente Heath sono pronti ad arrestare il famoso archeologo, ma Vance fa di tutto per dissuaderli. Se Bliss è colpevole, perché nel suo caffè ci sono tracce di oppio? E perché nel suo studio viene ritrovata la scarpa insanguinata ma non c'è traccia dell'altra? Qualcuno sta forse cercando di incolparlo? Good firm signature not hyphenated as opposed to his entry in the Oxford DNB. A short letter begging with thanks to the unnamed recipient 'for a sight of your beautiful drawings.' He continues: 'I have nothing to do with the publication of “Lives of the SS†as I parted with copyright at the time they were just done.' 20 March 1885. Lew Trenchard North Devon. See his entry in the Oxford DNB. 2pp 12mo. On bifolium. Thirty-lines of text in his distinctive close hand. Addressed to 'Dear Miss Hall' and signed 'S. B. Gould'. In fair condition lightly aged with slight loss to the upper corners of the second leaf from removal from mount. Folded twice for postage. He begins by stating that he will be writing to 'the Chaplain & also to some cousins of mine who are at Freiburg & who are nice cheerful people - the Snows'. He informs her of the death of 'Herr v. Hollern' and the marriage of 'Charlotte' to 'a sick man but not the one she wanted which was a young officer'. He contrasts her 'shallow' character with that of 'Hermine' before turning to the possibility of the recipient paying the Baring-Goulds a visit. He is 'going this summer to Baireuth sic to hear the 'Parzival' sic & shall go on to Freiburg to see old friends'.
