Circa 1942 miniature book 71 x 54 mm 2¾ x 2¼ inches thin card covers with large extra coloured illustrations by Voigt different on upper and lower covers on the upper cover Sambo's mother is stitching his sleeve 10 pages including insides of covers. 6 large coloured illustrations by Margot Voigt. Sambo is a sweet little African toddler in these images. 2 minute rust marks to lower cover slightest rub to spine. Otherwise a Fine copy of an uncommon miniature version of this story. Apparently S. Lowe published multiple versions of this title from 1940. Voigt's first version for this publisher was published as a shaped book circa 1941. See Barton Pictus Orbis page 213 illustration and 344. Corners worn and slightly 'rounded' tiny chips to outer layer of cloth at head and tail of spine maximum 5 mm ¼" white margins of upper board a bit stained and scratched darkened along lower edge lower board lightly marked. 10 mm ½" closed tear to lower edge of front endpaper and title page 60 mm 2½" closed tear to inner margin of 1 plate neatly repaired with archival tape. Occasional very pale margin mark contents very nice. Very good copy of uncommon title. Peter Croak the frog earns too much money as swimming teacher to beetles snails and bumblebees so the vicious mice decide to get rid of him. He is rescued by a fox and a huge hare.
