Rackety Rax Original screenplay for the 1932 film
Los Angeles: Fox Film Corporation 1932. Final Shooting script for the 1932 pre-Code film. A comedy with angles on sports gangsters and higher education that demonstrates the timelessness of the interdependence of college football and the continued ability for a university to exist. Victor McLaglen plays hulking gangster Knucks McGloin who founds a school called Canarsie College. Canarsie being a real neighborhood in New York City that produced more than its share of gangsters. Knucks doesn't really care about higher education: Canarsie College was created only so that Knucks would be able to control a collegiate football team which in turn would be a vehicle for his gambling activities. By organizing the bookie action on Canarsie's football matches Knucks makes enough money to offset the expense of the college. Light green titled wrappers noted as FINAL SHOOTING SCRIPT on the front wrapper rubber-stamped copy No. 646 and production No. 106 dated 8/22/32 with credits for screenwriters Sayre Markson and Breslow.
