Shelfwear to the lower book edges. Heavy browning and foxing to the top paper edge and browning to the other paper edges. Offset tanning and browning to the endpapers and age toning to the pages. The top corner of the free front endpaper has been clipped. Illustrated dust wrapper with an abstract black and green design against a white background with white insert and red decoration to the front panel and black writing within the insert and black writing to the spine. Rubbing and chipping to the dust wrapper corners and to the head and to the heel of the spine. The top spine edge of the dustwrapper is missing the first 0.25 " and there is chipping along the lower dust wrapper edge and there is rubbing and creasing to both the top and bottom edges. The dust wrapper is faded and the white background has become quite yellowed. A series of essays that had been published in previous journals -- e.g. The Australian Quarterly The Mercury The Sydney Morning Herald by Tasmanian lecturer and essayist on various people throughout history.
