Barrett-Lennard 1901 except one which is missing the date.

According to Peerage records he was the great-grandson of Sir Thomas Barrett-Lennard 1st Baronet Barrett-Lennard of Belhus Essex. One son William James Barrett-Lennard came to Canada with his wife Caroline Dormer and homesteaded in Manitoba on land that became known as Lennard. Lennard is now the municipality of Shellmouth-Boulton where there is a monument in "commemoration of pioneer William J Barrett-Lennard Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Boulton from1890 to 1892."

His son Walter J Barrett-Lennard was born in Manitoba in 1883. He later wrote that he "drove cattle in Saskatchewan …rode the rails when I was a boy; ran away from home when I was twelve; worked on farms on the prairie." He settled in Vancouver married Mary Lawther and became a partner at Foster and Barrett-Lennard Chartered Accountants. In this capacity he conducted a management review of the City of Vancouver; that report is online.

It appears that he and his wife were among the first to have a summer cottage on Bowen Island a small wealthy enclave off Vancouver's North Shore. Barrett-Lennard is credited with saving the small community of Hood Point from development.

Barrett-Lennard was active in the community and was past Worshipful Master of Western Gate Lodge No. 48 A.F. & A.M. He died in 1954.
Note: This set is sufficiently heavy that a second book cannot be included for the same shipping rate.
There will be extra shipping charges--I'll give you the precise amountwhen you order.

Peter Fenelon Collier & Son hardcover
