The film had such an effect on audiences that it is said to have led to psychiatric facility reforms in many states. This is based on the real experiences of John Stalker then the deputy chief constable of Manchester who was ordered to conduct an investigation into the murders of Gervaise McKerr and two other unarmed IRA men in 1982 only to discover that it was the British security service itself which had killed them. Stalker was removed from the inquiry shortly before his report was due--and in fact just as he was expecting to receive a tape from MI5 relating to the murders. To this day his report has never been published. And although it is not within the time frame of this movie Stalker was later falsely accused of a crime and had to end his police career. At Custer University Ray Blent Anthony Perkins is an honor student and college basketball star. June Ryder Jane Fonda has come to the university to study home economics and to find a husband. Both students and faculty are scandalized by Ryder's unashamed pursuit of Blent. She joins the pom-pom giorls and attends all the classes taken by Blent to ensure she has maximum contact with him. Everyone is aware of her designs on the sexually naive Blent except for him. She succeeds in convincing him that she has an intelligent inquiring mind that he admires although this is all done through deception. She eventually gets Blent to fall for her and propose marriage. Included is a studio still photograph of Lombard and Lilyan Tashman from the film with the unusual feature of having an associated quote from the scene added to the negative at the bottom margin. In this romance an aspiring writer encounters a wealthy publisher who gives him an advance on the first two chapters of his book. Meanwhile his wife helps out by becoming a chorus girl in a nightclub revue.
