File copy belonging to the film's director Ken Hughes with a typescript note tipped on to the title page requesting its return to the director and noting it is the only script in existence for the film. <br/><br/>Peter Finch delivers a strong performance as the inimitable author Oscar Wilde in this film about Wilde's sodomy trial after his affair with Lord Alfred Douglas lifted in large part from the historical court records. One of two films about Wilde released in May of 1960 the other being director Gregory Ratoff's "Oscar Wilde." In order to compete with the other Wilde film production on "The Trials of Oscar Wilde" was made in only nine weeks from start to finish with filming wrapping a mere two weeks before the London opening. Composer Ron Goodwin was recording music before scenes were filmed most scenes were filmed in one take and four editing rooms were set up working in parallel during principal photography in order to deal with the rushed timeline. <br/><br/>Shot on location in England. <br/><br/>Green wrappers with a typescript title label. Vintage original film script quarto plain wrappers with die cut window showing title 105 pp. With many pages of revisions on pink paper laid in. <strong>Actor Richard Chamberlain's copy signed by him on title page</strong> <strong>with numerous holograph notations in his hand including changes to dialogue. </strong>Many pages but most especially the laid in revision pages show considerable wear at their edges but virtually no printed text is affected. Script has working title </em>THE LONELY HEART<em>. Very good-. </em></p><p>Richard Chamberlain's annotated script for a landmark British gay film about the life of Tchaikovsky. This was a daring part for Chamberlain to take on since he was still a heavily closeted man in his personal life.</p><p>Much of the film is without dialogue and the story is presented in flashbacks nightmares and fantasy sequences set to Tchaikovsky's music. As a child the composer sees his mother die horribly forcibly immersed in scalding water as a supposed cure for cholera and is haunted by the scene throughout his musical career. Despite his difficulty in establishing his reputation he attracts Madame Nadezhda von Meck as his patron. His marriage to the allegedly nymphomaniacal Antonina Miliukova is plagued by his homosexual urges and lustful desire for Count Anton Chiluvsky. The dynamics of his life lead to deteriorating mental health and the loss of von Meck's patronage and he dies of cholera after deliberately drinking contaminated water.</p> Russfilms Ltd. paperback

Artwork by Jakub Erol. <br/><br/>Hal Erickson: "The Boy Friend" began life as Sandy Wilson's small-scale pastiche of British musical comedies of the 1920s. When the play was brought to America in 1954 its star was the teenage Julie Andrews. Because the musical required a minimum of sets props and costumes it became a favorite of amateur theater groups throughout the world. <br/><br/>But director Ken Russell notorious for his onscreen excesses abandoned the film's simplicity fashioning a humongous parody of the Busby Berkeley film musicals of the 1930s staged on a scale that made Berkeley seem stylistically modest. Fashion model Twiggy plays Polly Browne an aspiring musical comedy star working as stage manager of a production. She is transformed into a star when she replaces leading lady Rita Monroe Glenda Jackson unbilled who twists her ankle seconds before the curtain goes up. Christopher Gable who plays Polly's on-stage leading man also choreographed the lavish musical numbers. <br/><br/>23 x 33 inches. Faint stains to one edge and a couple of short closed tears.
