Attention is concentrated on the poems from exile, especially the four books of Epistulae ex Ponto, which reveal much more than previously suspected about the last decade of the reign of Augustus. His outstanding position was due mainly to his first two books, The Roman Revolution, which appeared in 1939, and Tacitus (two volumes, 1958) - although he went on to produce many more monographs, and seven volumes of his Roman Papers have so far appeared. The long gap between his first two books is partly explained by the war, which took him on official duties to Belgrade and Ankara, and he spent the years 1943-5 at Istanbul as Professor of Classical Philology. Palau 294882. ?Esta edicion sexta de las anotadas por Perizonio o de Amsterdam, es la primera en que se separaron del texto las adiciones de Scioppio antes confundidas con el, y se añadieron las correcciones que el mismo Sanchez habia hecho a capitulos 8° y 9° del tercer libro. Conservaba Mayáns el manuscrito y se lo facilitó al Conde Oton Federico de Linden. Tambien se agrego las últimas 32 h., la Diatriba de Kuster sobre el verbo Cerno, para que mas fácilmente se comprendiera la refutation que de ella hizo Perizonio. Apud Aegydium Beys Parisiis 1587 2 parties en un volume in-folio ( 360 X 230 mm ) de XXVIII-[3-1bl.]-668-[59-1bl.] pages et 216-[22-2bl.], pleine basane havane, dos à nerfs orné de caissons et fleurons dorés, triple filet doré d'encadrement sur les plats avec fleurs de lys dans les angles et grandes armes dorées au centre des plats, tranches dorées. Mors fendus, coiffes absentes, coupes et coins usés, reliure frottée mais solide, bel état intérieur. Malgré les défauts, bon exemplaire en reliure "Aux armes".Note: Permission accordée par le Parlement de Paris le 15 mars 1586 aux libraires Jacques Dupuys et Gilles Beys, d'imprimer les oeuvres de Sénèque, d'après un exemplaire de l'édition annotée par Marc-Antoine Muret ( Rome, 1585 ou 1586 ) contre le libraire Nicolas Nivelle, qui avait obtenu privilège pour cette impression le 7 février précédent.
