Redfield 1858. 12mo four volumes inserted frontispiece portrait of Poe in volume one original decorated brown cloth front and rear panels stamped in blind spine panel stamped in gold and blind. First edition later printing of each volume. The first collected edition of Poe's works the first three volumes first printed in 1850 the last in 1856. Considerable material appears here for the first time in book form including "The Balloon-Hoax" "The Unparalleled Adventure of One Hans Pfaall sic" "Mellonta Tauta" and "A Tale of the Ragged Mountains." Early owner's name Bidleman stamped on front free endpaper and on title page of volume one and his signature at top edge of title page as well also his stamp on title page of volume three. Mild wear to cloth at spine ends a few faint stains and scuffs a bit of spotting to front cover of volume four small hole in front free endpaper of volume four. A very nice set overall in an attractive uniform binding. #151570 J. S. Redfield unknown
