Fulvio Papi, nato a Trieste, vive a Milano e a Stresa. Per motivi diversi, anche connessi all'epoca gestazionale, esse tendono a essere nascoste, come se il silenzio avesse il potere di cancellare il dolore che le accompagna. Invece, tanto meno ci si occupa della perdita perinatale, tanto più i suoi effetti sono profondi e si estendono fino a coinvolgere chiunque ne venga a contatto, innescando potenzialmente una spirale di disagio e sofferenza. Come un sasso gettato sulla superficie quieta di uno stagno, a partire dal ventre materno, gli effetti della perdita perinatale si allargano a formare cerchi concentrici, coinvolgendo la madre, il padre, la coppia genitoriale, la famiglia estesa e gli operatori della cura. Il libro affronta l'argomento nel rispetto delle differenze insite nelle posizioni assunte da coloro che vivono questo evento, e abbraccia l'idea che la conoscenza di qualsiasi argomento dipende strettamente dall'ottica che assumiamo per osservarla.
