<p>This German festival book printed in Schlesswig in 1658 by Johan Holwein relates to the christening of Christian son of Duke Friedrich Wilhelm of Saxe-Altenburg and records court ceremony within a smaller principality of the Holy Roman Empire. Such works were issued in limited numbers for noble audiences. The volume includes 27 engraved plates showing mounted knights processions and tournament scenes with accompanying text identifying participants and sequences of events. Fair condition binding not specified text block worn with many pages showing moderate to extensive loss of text and reinforcement using archival paper and tape. Quarto 4to single volume.
