The broadside advertised a lecture on Russia and Siberia at the Elgin Opera House under the auspices of Elgin Lodge No. 117 one in several such events around the country by Captain S. Alberti. He was a Freemason and a former army officer who had been condemned to exile in the Kara mines in Siberia and had managed to escape with the help of Masonic friends and to immigrate to the US in the late 1800s. He would become widely known as a prolific Masonic lecturer and would often travel around the country and retell stories of his former life in Russia. S. l. A very scarce copy of this pictorial guide of Wareham complete with numerous period advertisements. No date - preface is dated 1900. Contains 25 b/w photographic plates as described in the title.There is loss at the head of the spine to the spine strip for 2 cm and light rubbing to the periphery of the spine and boards. The board corners tips have been lightly creased and rounded with slight creasing to the adacent page corners. Slight nik to the head of the rear board and slight foxing to the fore edges.
