Grafton, Sue
Keziah Dane
New York: The Macmillan Company 1967. Personal copy of author with her blindstamp library of Sue Grafton SG which she only used for this book as far as I know. She had multiple coies of it and this book appears to have gone to her literary agent H. N. Swanson to try and obtain film rights from. His rubber stamp HN Swanson Inco on Sunset Blvd is at bottom of same front endpaer where her blindstamp presents. Swanson represented the pinnacle of American literary authors for forty years such as F. Scott Ftizgerald Raymond Chandler William Faulkner to name just a few. This was author's first book many years before she began her mystery series. It has suffered from wear with small triangular scraping or scalping of cloth from base of spine and another smaller one at bottom of front board near gutter. No other marlomgs. Hinge still strong. Scape did not affect text blcok. Price intact jacket has same scrape area which caused chip to jacket of similar sizes. Minor chip at top of rear panel but no other issues with jacket which is price intact. First printing stated pm copyright page. In mylar. . First American Edition. Hardcover. Good Plus to VG-/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. The Macmillan Company Hardcover

Extremities faintly toned spine tips gently pressed top stain faded still near fine in near fine lightly edge worn dust jacket in mylar cover. GRAFTON'S LITERARY BEGINNINGS

Keziah Dane marks Grafton's first published foray into fiction—an ambitious regional drama set in post-flood Kentucky. Although Grafton later became celebrated for her "Alphabet Series" featuring detective Kinsey Millhone this early novel reveals her command of character place and tension. Published over a decade before her introduction of Millhone's mysteries Keziah Dane is both a window into Grafton’s literary roots and a gem in its own right.

Signed by Grafton on the title page.
