‎Two Essays: "A Forgotten Aspect of the University Question" by F.J.C. Skeffington and "The Day of the Rabblement" by James A. Joyce‎

‎Minneapolis: McCosh Bookstore 1957. Yellow cloth slightly dust marked else fine. Reprint of Joyce's first publication. The 19 year-old Joyce and his fellow student Francis Skeffington had had it privately printed after their two works had been forbidden publication in the University magazine. ‎Two Essays. "A Forgotten Aspect of the University Question" by F.J.C. Skeffington and "The Day of the Rabblement" by James Joyce‎

‎Dublin: Gerrard Bros. 1901. First Edition of Joyce's first appearance in a book and second appearance in print: an attack on the Irish Literary Theatre. A fine copy in a custom quarter-morocco slipcase. This piece along with Skeffington's which advocated equal University status for women was rejected by University College's school magazine. The authors paid two pounds and five shillings to have 85 copies of the booklet printed by a local stationer's shop. Now very scarce it would be unobtainable if not for a small cache apparently unearthed some decades ago but now absorbed into the market and collections. Gerrard Bros. unknown‎

‎TWO WORLDS A LITERARY QUARTERLY DEVOTED TO THE INCREASE OF THE GAIETY OF NATIONS‎

‎New York 1926. Volume one numbers one through four. Four volumes. Printed wrappers. Some tanning to wrappers from interaction with the slipcases but a very good set in somewhat edgeworn but uncommon slipcases that for number one lacking the rear panel and the label for that for number two somewhat wrinkled. Edited by Samuel Roth with associates including at least in name for the first two numbers Ezra Pound and Ford Madox Hueffer. The notorious periodical best remembered and justly reviled for its piracy of the installments from Joyce's WORK IN PROGRESS. While much of the material is reprinted with or without authorization from other sources Carl Rakosi and Louis Zukofsky both make early appearances in this volume. Three of the issues and one of the slipcases bear a number - although not the same number - in their limitation statements. HOFFMAN et al p.279. SLOCUM & CAHOON C65. unknown‎

‎Mexico:: Editorial Diana S. A. 1952. publisher's printed green boards in illustrated dust jacket. Front hinge cracked; rear free endpaper lacking; some bumping and use but a very good copy of this very cheaply produced book. The vivid dust jacket is bright with a few tiny nicks and some very minor fading to the spine. 8vo. Traducido por J. Salas Subirat. 1957 ink signature of Richard Bissell Guadalajara. This was probably Richard Bissell Jr. head of the CIA in Mexico and involved in a plot to overthrow Castro. This copy was bound without pp. 783-814. We have never seen another copy of this translation and do not know whether all copies were produced this way. Editorial Diana, S. A., hardcover‎

‎Ulisses‎

‎Rio de Janeiro: Objetiva. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. 2005. Trade Paperback. 8573026731 . Slight corner bump otherwise slight wear; Dust Jacket 1/8" tail tear slight edgwear. Crisp trade paperback. ; Portuguese language. ; Clssicosmodernos .
