There is modest foxing to the closed page-edges only and the endpapers are tanned. Also the bookplate of esteemed book collector and bibliographist Adrian Homer Goldstone is affixed to the front pastedown. Otherwise clean tight square and bright. All tips are sharp. The paper label on the book's spine-panel denoting the title and the author is in fine clean condition. The dustjacket glossy in a mylar sleeve and whole has general foxing; its spine is unfaded and there are only very minor touches of rubbing wear to the extremities. A very nice collector's-quality copy -- rare in jacket -- of the author's second collection of short stories. In fine condition. Point Counter Point's title is a reference to the flow of arguments in a debate and a series of these exchanges tell the story. Instead of a single central plot there are a number of interlinked story lines and recurring themes as in musical "counterpoint". As a roman à clef many of the characters are based on real people most of whom Huxley knew personally such as D. H. Handsome and tight later late 1950s printing of Modern Library #180 first published by them in 1930 -- the British novelist's long 1928 "novel of ideas." This copy bears a choice autograph addition: In 1968 BBC brought out a mini-series version and this copy bears both a signature and an Autograph Note Signed from one of its co-stars. DAVID COLLINGS 1940-2020 portrays distraught intellectual Maurice Spandrell and tipped to the blank leaf facing the title page is a unique frontispiece a fine heavy stock 5" X 3" card boldly signed by Collings in black fineline which he dates 10 September 1986 at upper right. In addition tipped to inner flyleaf is an admirer's typed note folded in half to Collings; the actor writes "P.T.O." Please Turn Over on this and upon opening he writes a cordial note: "Thank you for your letter & apologies for replying on the back side of it but this is written in great haste." and again signed.
