Both volumes protected in removable clear plastic covering with white d/w reinforcement too internally both are in very good condition or better with the eight illustrations and fold-out maps still present in excellent order. A famous detailed description of arguably the bravest and most tragic episodes of polar exploration with Vol I being Scott's journals and Vol II being the reports of the journeys and the scientific work undertaken by Dr. E.Wilson and the surviving expedition members. Vol.I-xxvi 634pp; Vol.II-xvi 534pp. Both volumes bound in original blue cloth with gilt lettering to upper board and spines and gilt to upper page edges. Both volumes have rubbing to extremities and sunning to spines. Endpapers and pastedowns are toned to both volumes. Text-blocks are heavy and this has caused a little sagging on the spine and tender hinges but does not yet appear to be serious. Pages are text-blocks generally in good order with very occasional light signs of foxing. Vol.I has a vertical crease down its centre. Books weigh 3.5kg additional postage fee may be required.
