The best entry "A Thief in Korianth" is an early much superior version of the author's 1985 novel Angel with the Sword. This will be of greatest interest to fans of Cherryh's novels." This was not the first of the Captain Future stories despite the words "Introducing Captain Future" on the cover of the 1968 Popular Library edition of the book but it was the first Captain Future story published outside of "Captain Future Magazine". Edmond Hamilton wrote the Captain Future stories under the pseudonym Brett Sterling. The stories were published in "Captain Future Magazine" between the winter of 1940 and the spring of 1944 and then in "Startling Stories" from the spring of 1945 and May of 1951. This is a standard fun space opera series with the hero Captain Future and his allies The Futuremen saving humanity in their adventures in outer space. Since this is not the first story of the series don't expect any introductions to the characters but it is not difficult for the reader to follow the action. The pace of the story is very fast and the entire novel is less than 130 pages so it is very quick read. However there is nothing really special about the story either and I would have to place it behind the E. E. Smith's Lensman series as far as space operas are concerned. In this story Earth's supply of the anti-aging drug Vitron is threatened by a rebellion of the native population on the planet Roo which is the source for most of the Vitron. Captain Future and his Futuremen need to go undercover to investigate as the government agents which have been sent before have been killed.
