Farmer Philip Jose
BOX SET "PHILIP JOSE FARMER'S FABULOUS RIVERWORLD": To Your Scattered Bodies Go / The Fabulous Riverboat / The Dark Design / Riverworld and Other Stories aka Riverworld the Great Short Fiction of Philip Jose Farmer
New York: Berkley Books #s S2057 1st Printing 1971 02329 3rd Printing undated 03831 1st Printing 1978 and 04208 1st Edition 1979 1980 ----------4 paperbacks in a BOX/SLIPCASE presumably issued about 1980 as that is the date shortly after Riverworld and Other Stories 1979. IT MUST BE STATED that the contents of this box ARE NOT THE SAME as the contents of the box when the box was originally issued. Originally the box set included later printings 16th 13th & 6th respectively of the first 3 books in Farmer's Riverworld series plus Riverworld and Other Stories a 1979 first edition paperback original which includes a re-written version of the the novelette Riverworld. The former owner removed the first 3 books and replaced them with the 1st 3rd and 1st printings respectively. Thus the box now contains respectively 1st printing 3rd printing 1st printing and 1st edition. Scattered Bodies has a marker price on the page block bottom edge appears unread and is near fine to fine. Fabulous Riverboat has spine creases edgewear and is VG. Dark Design has a faint reading crease trace of edgewear and is a near fine copy. Riverworld and Other Stories has a faint spine crease bumps to spine extremities and is near fine. The box has rubbing to corners and surfaces as is common for such items and is at least VG. An uncommon box set. Later and/or First Printings. Mass Market Paperback. Near Fine/Very Good. Note: our prices on Biblio are the LOWEST of any of the sites on which we list our books. New York: Berkley Books #s S2057 1st Printing 1971, 02329 3rd Printing undated, 03831 1st Printing 1978 and 04208 1st Edition 19 paperback

New York: Crown SF Classics - Crown Publishers Inc. BOOK: Corners Spine Bumped; Light Shelf Rub to Boards; Spine Moderately Cocked; Edges Lightly Soiled. DUST JACKET: Repaired; Lightly Creased; Lightly Scratched; Lightly Chipped; Lightly Soiled Slight Yellowing Due to Age; In Archival Quality Jacket Cover. BOOK NUMBER: 5451. EDITED AND INTRODUCTION BY: Martin Harry Greenberg. FOREWARD BY: Isaac Asimov. SERIES EDITOR: George Zebrowski. CONTENTS: Retrieving the Lost - Isaac Asimov; Introduction - Martin Harry Greenberg; Sail On! Sail On!; Mother; The God Business; The Alley Man; My Sister's Brother; The King of Beasts. SYNOPSIS: Winner of the Hugo Award as "The Best New Writer of 1952" for his first published novel The Lovers Philip Jose Farmer was and still is known as a science fiction pioneer and he is certainly one of the most critically acclaimed and widely read SF authors at work today. His ground-breaking stories swept away the taboos of the 1950s and opened up science fiction to an exploration of sexuality both human and alien and complex moral and religious issues that had been barely touched upon before in this genre. This collection of short fiction spans the first twelve years of Farmer's published writing. Here you will encounter such gems as Mother the story of a homesick young man who adopts a bizarre alien as his parent and protector; The Alley Man about the last living Neanderthal and a twentieth-century woman's strange attraction to him; and the disturbing My Sister's Brother in which the humanlike beauty of an alien creature tests an Earthman's deepest prejudices when he discovers the true nature of her sexuality. All these stories reveal a sensitivity in dealing with provocative themes that marks their author as an outstanding innovator and a serious writer of science fiction at its best and most thoughtful. Book Club BCE/BOMC. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. Illus. by Michael Booth. 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. Crown SF Classics - Crown Publishers, Inc. Hardcover
