Rare en série complète.Visions Futures, fut une éphèmere collection parue entre 1952 et 1953, réputée pour ses superbes couvertures illustrées par Jef de Wulf et aussi pour avoir publié le 1er livre de André Ruellan alias Kurt Steiner sous le pseudonyme de Kurt Wargar. Quand aux autres auteurs, René Gordon semble avoir plutôt écrit pour le théâtre des comédies et vaudevilles et c'est ici son seul ouvrage de SF connu. Alan Brightmill qui est sans doute un pseudonyme n'est connu que pour ces deux titres parus ici tout comme France Potz, Maurice Renaud et Christian Bergen. Charles-Anthoine Gonnet, ancien rugbyman international à dirigé et écrit les collections policières et d'espionnage édités à la même époque à la Flamme d'or. Il est notamment l'auteur du roman de SF " On a volé le Canon Atomique" paru dans la collection " Missions Secrètes " chez le même éditeur. Titre et fleurons dorés et gravés. Nom de l'auteur et annotation à la plume en page de titre. Plats et coins avec infimes frottis. Intérieur très frais. Rarissime tirage en date de 1774 mais qui reproduit apparemment l'édition originale. En effet, il n'est pas fait mention en page de titre de cette note : ...Nouvelle Edition, revue et corrigée par l'Auteur, qui a jugé à propos de refondre le Chapitre de la Bibliothèque du Roi et de plus il manque en fin d'ouvrage le chapitre intitulé : Supplément au chapitre de la bibliothèque du Roi tel qu’il étoit dans les précédentes éditions. Très bel état général pour cette Utopie, considérée comme l'un des tous premiers textes d'Anticipation. De toute rareté. Exemplaire enrichi d'une note manuscrite, explicative, rédigée en italien, sur feuille volante.

Voilà la principale oeuvre conjecturale de Claude Farrère, écrite sous la double influence de Herbert George Wells et Jack London, mais à l'inverse des 2 auteurs , les sympathies de Claude Farrère ne vont pas aux ouvriers-esclaves de sa cité future, mais à celui qui les vainc grâce à un rayon permettant de désagréger instantanément la matière. Il s'agit donc plutôt d'une contre-utopie réactionnaire qui vaut la peine d’être lue. Il est aussi à noter que ce texte semblerait avoir inspiré Aldous Huxley pour son roman " Le Meilleur des Mondes ". Un des Un des 300 exemplaires numérotés sur Vélin du Marais ( n° 380 ), après 50 sur Chine et 250 sur Hollande. Rare édition originale, surtout dans un tel état de fraicheur, proche du parfait.
