‎Auszug aus dem Vorwort: "Die vorliegende Arbeit versucht, sich an Hand der wichtigsten in Deutschland erschienenen Werke mit den Ansichten der marxistischen Ästhetik über den tragischen Helden in den Dramen Schillers auseinanderzusetzen. Diese Auseinandersetzung soll allein auf der Grundlage des Schillerschen Textes erfolgen und nur vom dichterischen Wort her die Meinungen der marxistischen Literaturhistoriker bestätigen oder widerlegen. Das Neue unseres Versuches liegt somit vorwiegend in dieser Analyse und Stellungnahme. In der kritischen Betrachtung der Ergebnisse der marxistischen Ästhekik enthüllten sich zugleich Vorteile und Nachteile ihrer Methode. Verschiedenlich zeigte es sich, daß Möglichkeiten ungenutzt blieben. Grundsätzlich war nicht der Sinn dieser Studie, Schillern neu zu interpretieren, denn das ist gerade in den letzten Jahren immer wieder geschehen.
