Poughkeepsie NY: Guild Press Inc 1958. Revised Edition. Hardcover. Fair. Polgreen John. 44 pages. Includes illustrations. Many illustrations in color. Name of previous owner present. Spine covered with black tape for reinforcement covering "A" in Adventure on front cover. Edges worn. Cover soiled. Distribution by Simon and Schuster. This title was to be the first in a series called Adventure in Space. This is the story of the rocket age before our current explorations into space. A must have for collectors. This book covers theory history terminology and other information. Willy Otto Oskar Ley October 2 1906 - June 24 1969 was a German-American science writer spaceflight advocate and historian of science who helped to popularize rocketry and spaceflight in both Germany and the United States. The crater Ley on the Moon is named in his honor. His book Rockets - the Future of Travel Beyond the Stratosphere 1944 describes the early rockets at VfR and more futuristic projects to reach the moon using a 3-stage rocket "as high as 1/3 of the Empire State Building" - a very good estimate of the height of the Saturn V rocket.
