Boston: John Qunicy Adams 1836. Hardcover. Good. Two volumes in one both volumes are stated "First American stereotype edition." One of the two prefaces is by John Quincy Adams the other is uncredited. Translator is uncredited. lii 408 lii 416 Volume Two repeats the prefaces. Illustrated with two engraved frontispieces. Half black calf brown paper covered boards spine with gilt bands at the top of the spine is the title and a sun design in gilt. Boards and spine are worn front hinge cracked article glued to the front pastedown alongside remnants of something else that had once been affixed there gift inscription on the front free endpaper and scattered foxing throughout good only.
