Eight plates one by Howard Pyle. Photo frontis of the author is one of the eight with the tissue guard intact. 12 pages of advertisements 541 pages. Stated "Popular Edition" and over all a good solid copy of a classic work by a Polish author. The letter facsimile by the author is bound in the book discouraging other companies from publishing the book. One volume edition from which a successful film was made. Previous owner's last name in ink in upper right corner of front free endpaper. A bit of spine end rubbing buy minimal. Light bumping to the spine ends some browning to the top and bottom cover edges. The interior is clean and the spine is tightly bound. The DJ has a tear on the front top spine hinge. There is light soiling on the top edges of the cover where the wrap around ends. The wrap around is an advertisement from the MGM movie made out of the book starring Robert Taylor and Deborah Kerr shipping on the bottom and the spine is browned.
