‎Luzern, Druck A. Petermann 1845. Konvolut von 58 Ausgaben à 4 Seiten, gedruckt auf relativ gutem, büttenähnlichem Papier (Bütten?). Unterschiedlich etwas knittrig und faltig, wenig lädiert, eher vereinzelt fleckig (erstes und letztes Exemplar stärker), etwas Alters- u. Gebrauchsspuren. Gesamthaft relativ wohl erhaltene Sammlung.‎

‎Der 'Erzähler von Luzern' erschien 2 Mal wöchentlichvon 1845 bis April 1848, und danach nochmals ein Jahr lang 1850 (s. J. L. Brandstetter, in BSLK, Ib, 1896, p. 64). - Vorhanden sind 58 Nummern zwischen Nr. 1 vom 13. Januar 1845 und Nr. 99 vom 23. Dezember (Ausgaben: 1, 5-22, 24, 25, 29-34, 36-38, 40-44, 46, 47, 49, 53, 54, 56, 57, 60, 61, 63-65, 67-69, 79, 90-93, 96, 97, 99). Ohne die Ausgabe vom 14. April mit der ersten Darstellung von Ulrich Ochsenbein zum 2. Freischarenzug 'Kurzer Bericht über die Kriegsereignisse im Kanton Luzern'. - Ob hier fehlende Ausgaben teilweise der Zensur anheim fielen oder sonstwie beschlagnahmt wurden, muss offenbleiben. Im 'Luzernerischen Kantonsblatt' von 1847 findet sich jedenfalls ein Hinweis auf solche den 'Erzähler' betreffenden Massnahmen, die generell auch 1845 schon zur Anwendung kamen ("Der Landbote von Zürich ist jüngst auf der Post an und hinein - aber nicht mehr heraus gekommen", 'Erzähler' Nr. 1, p. 4). - Bedeutende publizistische Dokumentation und Sammlung dieser zeitgenössischen liberalen Zeitung ("der nicht auf Regierungsseite stehende 'Erzähler von Luzern'", K. Bühlmann, Der zweite Freischarenzug, 1985, p. 89; zur Buchdruckerei von Anton Petermann und dem 'Erzähler' s. F. Blaser, Die Luzerner Buchdrucker des 19. Jahrhunderts, 1974). - Dokumentiert wird hier in journalistischer Bearbeitung, dadurch mit vielen unmittelbaren und interessanten Detailinformationen und Personalia, nebst allen weiteren politischen Vorgängen in den Kantonen die Berichterstattung von zeitgeschichtlich so bedeutsamen Ereignissen wie politische Auseinandersetzungen innerhalb der Eidgenossenschaft, Tagsatzungsberichte (Sitzungen der Ausserordentlichen Tagsatzung zu Freischaren und Landfrieden), Freischarenzüge und entsprechende Gesetzgebung (Gesetz gegen die Freischaren, Artikelserie 'Siegwart-Müller über Todesstrafe') bzw. Prozesse (z. B. gegen Jakob Robert Steiger und zahlreiche Freischärler) und die drakonischen Urteile, dann vor allem die ausserordentlich viel Raum beanspruchende Jesuitenberufung resp. 'Jesuitenfrage', und in Nr. 56 vom Freitag, 25. Juli 1845 die kurze Nachricht von der Ermordung von Grossrat Josef Leu aus Ebersol. - Ausserdem wird die Auslandberichterstattung gepflegt und eine Fülle von diversen Aktualitäten dokumentiert, wie z.B. die Eröffnung des Hotels Schweizerhof in Luzern am 21.August 1845 (in Nr. 65), u.v.a.m. - // - "Die Freischarenzüge stehen in engstem Zusammenhang mit der Luzerner Jesuitenberufung. In zeitgenössischen liberalen Darstellungen wurden sie stets als direkte Folge dieses politischen Fehlgriffs der konservativen Regierung Luzerns dargestellt." (Marchi, op. cit. p. 11). Diese Invasionsversuche waren eine dramatische Zuspitzung in einem Konflikt, der besonders zwischen den Ständen Luzern und Aargau schon seit mehreren Jahren schwelte und zu einer schrittweisen Konfessionalisierung führte. "Nachdem die aargauische Klosterfrage zu einer gesamtschweizerischen Angelegenheit geworden war, bestand die Gefahr, dass jeder neue Streit zwischen den beiden Nachbarkantonen sich ausweitete. Genau das ist nach 1844 geschehen, als Luzern als Reaktion auf die Aargauer Klosteraufhebung seine höheren Schulen den Jesuiten anvertraute [..]. Damit wurde der Konflikt zu einer bewaffneten Auseinandersetzung, vom Freischarenkrieg in den Jahren 1844-1845 zum offenen [Sonderbunds-]Krieg von 1847." (G. Andrey, in: B.
