The 1898 edition from Macmillan has moss green boards with gold lettering and flowers and is in reasonably good condition. The spine is heavily sunned there is a one-inch piece missing from top edge and bottom edge is chipped. Boards are sunned and lightly soiled corners are bumped. Interior is tight and clean with illustrations in color by Hugh Thomson and a preface by Anne Thackeray Ritchie. Booksellers sticker on rear pastedown reads "Chas. E. Lauriat Co. Importers & Booksellers opp. Old South Boston". The other book is an undated printing circa 1900 from Donohue Brothers in Chicago and is "complete and unabridged. " Book is solidly bound and clean throughout; type is somewhat unevenly printed. Decorative patterned silver gilt cloth at spine folding onto front and back boards which have a flower-patterned covering. Black-and-white illustrations throughout. A large chip extends from the top of the spine about halfway across the top of the front panel affecting four letters of the title otherwise in very good condition with minor darkening chips and tears. This large paper issue is very uncommon especially in the publisher’s binding; we have seen no other in dust jacket. Presumably most of those large paper copies were finely bound by their buyers. Good/No Jacket. part of 'the complete works of charloote bronte and her sisters' bound in maroon leather or leatherette with gold gilt to the spine and front of the book. the book is undated but appears to be from about 1905. the covers are worn with tears and fraying at the top of the spine. a small tear under the front end page which is also darkened. very slight waviness affecting the first couple of pages. the book has no inscriptions and the binding is excellent. condition is given in terms of the book's age.complete with all plates as called for.
