‎<p>Pamphlet 8vo stapled 36 pp. Mitchell's name penciled on title some creasing normal aging and browning; otherwise very good. John H. Mitchell 1835-1905 was a rather corrupt U.S. senator from Oregon who served three times between 1873 and 1905. Among his many accomplishments he managed to get himself indicted and convicted in the "Oregon Land Scandals" at the time he was a sitting senator of the United States. Mitchell managed to get himself fined and a six months prison sentence for election fraud in 1901. However he managed to die during the appeal process from complications related to a tooth extraction. On the positive side he actually managed to address a young National Geographic Society in April 1895.
