The 1832 Royal Commission into the Operation of the Poor Laws was a group set up to decide how to change the Poor Law systems in England and Wales. The group included Nassau Senior a professor from Oxford University who was against the allowance system and Edwin Chadwick who was a Benthamite. The recommendations of the Royal Commission's report were implemented in the Poor Law Amendment Act 1834. Expertly rebound in a cloth covered binding. Externally lovely condition. Chicago : s.n. circa 1965. Octavo illustrated self-wrappers pp. 14 illustrated in black and white light central crease. A rare early American vinyl and latex catalogue with a variety of products designed for fetishist sexplay. Includes latex bikinis bloomers custom made ladies dress suits exercise suits panties gloves aprons raincapes slacks bras boots and other latexwear. The publisher is anonymous and the catalogue was probably distributed through sex shops and similar however the mention of sales tax in Illinois suggests the publisher was located in that state probably Chicago. Discovering diversity during the sexual revolution. The origins of Latex fetishism or rubber fetishism are traditionally attributed to the invention of the Mackintosh raincoat in 1824. Originally a purely functional piece of waterproof outerwear the raincoat like all garments evolves as a fashion object and the unique materials and sensual nature of the latex produce an erotic effect on fetishists for a variety of reasons not all of which entirely understood. Latex fetishism in the modern era can see its emergence in the invention of the catsuit in the 1950s by British designer John Sutcliffe transitioning to the mainstream in the 1960s with The Avengers with the show's sexy heroine Emma Peel clad in latex. Latexwear is often subversive and makes reference to marginalised social groups such as bikers prostitutes and slaves and appropriates motifs of power from the military and dungeon master to challenge traditional notions of authority and control. Latex was explored by Vivienne Westwood and other designers in the early 1970s celebrated by the punk movement in the late 70s club kids in the 80s and continues to be a material widely enjoyed by both mainstream fashionistas and fetishists alike. This rare catalogue from the time of the sexual revolution celebrates the acceptance of sexual diversity and individual liberation. Unlike contemporary latex fetish catalogues like AtomAge which featured the more extreme forms of kink on their covers gas masks etc. this anonymous catalogue promotes the use wearing of latex as part of one's daily routine. Fictional Memoir of a Man from Monmouthshire
None: None c1940. Paperback. Good. 14" by 8.5". None. A seemingly fictional memoir of a male narrator told through his relationship with horses and how they have affected his life. The chapters provide highlights of his life from childhood to enlisting and fighting in the South African War to enlisting i This work is from the twentieth century and is the author's draft. There are several pencil and pen annotations as well as blanks with notes to fill in further information later. The work regards the coming-of-age of the omniscient narrator and their equestrian experiences. This is in addition to providing the reader with insight into the breeding of and nature of horses. There are three main sections to the work the narrator's childhood their experiences during the South African War of 1899 enlisting in World War I and then a summary final chapter written in 1939. The anonymous author of this work seems well-informed regarding the breeding of hunting and race horses as indicated by the passion in writing and the appendix which provides 'The Cost of A Hunter from a Foal to 5 1/2 years if Bred on a 500 Acre Mixed Farm and Trained by the Owner'. They also discuss derbies in detail and show jumping. Despite some very plausible information it seems that this work is fictitious and 'Llanover Castle' and 'Clyther Manor' seem to be allusions to Llanover Garden Monmouthshire and Clytha Park of Monmouthshire. The Fernley family referred to appear to be completely fictitious as is Lord Carbery. A very scarce and possibly unpublished work in the working draft form. In paper wraps. Externally sound. Chipping to the extremities. A juvenile pencil hand to the front wrap 'Duddy'. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright. Occasional correctional pen and pencil annotations by the author not affecting the text. Odd spots to pages. Good None paperback

Measurements: Sheet: 29 3/4 inches x 22 1/2 inches. Plate mark image size 19 7/8 inches x 11 1/2 inches. Depicts what looks to be California Poppies in black and white tones. Condition of print is fine a few stray smudges well away from the image. It is our surmise that this is a fabulous mono-print but that is pure speculation. We could go on and on emphasizing how extraordinary the print is but in the end we want what we want so we'll leave to you to see if it moves you. What we can tell you is that we bought this as part of a large lot of hundreds of works on paper at auction and that we've had it for a number of years.
