In the original blind-stamped decorated brown cloth boards with bright gilt titling 'Book of Fishes' to the front board. Boards are a little patchily faded/marked but tight and sound and the book looks good. Printed by Harrison and Co. London. The page fore-edges are slightly browned and there is some very light foxing a few marks and some inky 'Thumbing' but overall the book is pretty clean thight and bright. There is a former owners' note in Welsh on the front free endpaper. viii 160 pp. A lovely b/w full page frontispiece of 'The Interior of a pilchard-curing house in Cornwall by Whimper. Illustrated in the text with b/w woodcuts of various fish and fish related items! Most of the book discusses various Fish where they are found piscatorial histories descriptions of each "fish tribe" enlivened with quotations and curious anecdotes etc etc but the very last Chapter is entitled 'The Art of Angling' 14 pp with a final page 1 illustrating 'Knots for Anglers'.
