Straus was a progressive Democrat who had supported such laws as: Workmen's Compensation , State Care of the Poor Insane, the Pure Food Law, Two-Day Rest law for Railway Telegraphers, the Ten-Hour Law for Working Women, the Anti-Cocaine Law for Baltimore City, Law Prohibiting Expectorati on in Railway Cars (! ) , etc. Straus, born in Baltimore in 1871 was had been elected to the Maryland General Assembly in 1902 and Attorney General in 1908. This pamphlet reprints 5 editorials from the Baltimore Sun praising Straus and also lists the "Laws which he prepared in whole or part and vigorously supported" as Attorney General of Maryland. These include: Workmen's Compensation , State Care of the Poor Insane, the Pure Food Law, Two-Day Rest law for Railway Telegraphers, the Ten-Hour Law for Working Women, the Anti-Cocaine Law for Baltimore City, Law Prohibiting Expectoration in Railway Cars (! ) , etc. Straus, born in Baltimore in 1871 was a progressive Democrat elected to the Maryland General Assembly in 1902 and Attorney General in 1908. He also served as counsel for the Lord's Day Alliance, the Maryland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and other organizations. (UJE, 1943, 10: 81). Toning, Very Good Condition.
