The 'Yesod Olam' was first published at Berlin, in 1777, by Jacob Shklower, and a more complete edition was published with a preface by David Cassel, by B.Goldberg and L.Rosenkranz in 1846-48. EXTREMELY RARE FIVE HEBREW TITLES BOUND IN ONE: omnibus volume featuring five Hebrew titles from the 18th and 19th centuries, printed in the German countries and related to Orthodox Judaism. The first title, "Sefer Ha-Yashar" (wrongfully attributed to Rabbeinu Tam), is a philosophical treatise on Faith, Devotion and Virtue. The second title is the posthumously published moral demands of R. Naphtali Cohen of Prague. The third title is a eulogy on Ezekiel Landau Halevi, written by Jehuda Leib Carlburg, a prominent figure in German orthodoxy. The fourth title, Alim La-Terufa is two epistles on morality by medieval rabbis, provided here with a parallel Yiddish translation. The final title, Beis Avraham, is the posthumously published moral demands of R. Abraham b. Yechiel Michael Dantzig. The books include handsomely decorated title pages, as well as several text decorations. On the endpaper and rear whitepages are unidentified autographs. 155x95mm. Includes text of the Book of Esther. Rabbi Binyamin (pseudonym of Yehoshua Radler-Feldmann; 18801957) , was a Hebrew journalist. Born in Zborov, Galicia, Rabbi Binyamin published his first essay in 1903, and in 1906 moved to London, where he joined J. H. Brenner in the publication of Ha-Meorer. Arriving in Palestine in 1907, he first worked as a laborer in Petah Tikvah, then as secretary of Herzlia, the first Hebrew high school in Tel Aviv. He left this position to join in the founding of kevutzat Kinneret. In 1910 he moved to Jerusalem, taught at the Rehavyah Hebrew high school, and later at the Tahkemoni religious school. After World War I he was active in the Mizrachi Party and edited the religious national monthly Ha-Hed (192653) . In 1925 he was among the founders of the Berit Shalom association, which advocated a binational state for Arabs and Jews. Rabbi Binyamin published thousands of articles and essays, often expressing individualistic viewpoints. He did much to introduce Brenner and Agnon to the Hebrew reading audiences. His critical essays include surveys and analyses of the great figures of ancient and modern European civilization, Asian cultures, and modern Hebrew literature (Kressel in EJ 2010) .
