He was one of the first Jewish graduates from the modern universities, earning a Ph. D. Degree in 1836. He was appointed Rabbi in Prague in 1836, and in Berlin in 1844. He took the conservative side against the Reform agitation, and so strongly opposed the introduction of the organ into the Synagogue that he retired from the Rabbinate rather than acquiesce (Wikipedia 2017) . One paged script in four pages. Safiye Hüseyin was the daughter of Ahmet Pasha, who is a diplomat in England. He completed his education in Europe. Elbi contributed to the development of modern nursery in Turkey. She attended international congresses held in Germany and Switzerland during the Ottoman Imperial rule and received many medals. When the Çanakkale War begins, Safiye Hüseyin was a volunteer nurse and given to the Resit Pasha Hospital Ship as the chief nurse. She also served as a nurse in the Balkan Wars, (1912-1913). After the proclamation of the republic, she worked with a superior waiver in all charities and associations. This letter sent to Elbi by Ministry of Prosperity Mobilization Director, Sadi Seçmeer. Letter indicating which regiment she wants to choose. Probably she was an educator in some Republican charities and army. 1 full p. Ankara, dated 20th of September, 1938.
