Schoenberner, Gerhard; M Coutinho (Maurice Sigismund)
DE GELE STER: DE JODENVERVOLGING IN EUROPA VAN 1933 TOT 1945
Publishers cloth. 4to. 223 pages. 26 cm. First Dutch edition. Translated from the German. The Yellow Star: The Persecution of the Jews in Europe, 1933-1945. With 196 photographs. Originally published in 1960 in German as Der Gelbe Stern, this landmark book was one of the first comprehensive photographic accounts of the Holocaust. During the 1950s, researchers in Washington, D. C. And London pored over more than 1, 500 tons of photographs and documents seized after World War II. In 1960 Gerhard Schoenberner gathered some 200 photographs from the newly uncovered material, most of them taken by Nazis to chronicle their war against the Jews. Schoenberner named the book after the yellow badge that the Nazis forced the persecuted Jews to wear. With its comprehensive, authoritative presentation of visual and textual evidence, much of which had not yet not been seen before, The Yellow Star shocked the German population and introduced the world to many haunting images. The book endures as one of the most important documentary accounts of the Holocaust, reprinted in many German editions and published in eight languages. The photographs are accompanied by extracts from Nazi and German documents-laws, decrees, and other Reich memoranda, field reports from SS officers and concentration camp directors, newspaper editorials, and other writings. Schoenberner also provides detailed captions to the photographs. Organized chronologically, the book follows the growing scope and terror of the Holocaust, from the first anti-Jewish laws and Kristallnacht to ghetto uprisings and the Final Solution, culminating in the liberation of the death camps. (Publishers description to English edition) . Subjects: Holocaust. Antisemitisme. Europa (geografie) . OCLC lists 14 copies. Light tear to top of backstrip; no DJ; otherwise fresh and clean. Very good condition. (HOLO2-108-31)

Schoenfeld, Joachim; Wiesenthal, Simon (Foreward)
Holocaust Memoirs: Jews in the Lwow Ghetto, the Janowski Concentration Camp, and As Deportees in Siberia
328 pages. "A significant document by which the author acquitted himself of the obligation bequeathed on the survivors of the Holocaust by its victims to tell the world what happened to the Jews during World War Two, when to be a Jew was a crime. The Memoirs based on the author's own experiences and reports told to him by his relatives and friends, survivors of the Holocaust, describe the fate of hundreds of thousands of Polish Jews, banished by the Russians to Siberia and in particular the lot of those who came under the Nazi regime... A rich source of first hand information about the life in the ghetto, the Judenrat, the Jewish Ghetto Police and the methods used by the Nazis in the destruction of the Jews." - dust jacket. Author lost his parents, wife and two sons in the Holocaust. Map endpapers. Black and white illustrations. Book clean and unmarked with light wear. Dust jacket lightly sunned at spine, bears several closed tears and is missing some small chips - now preserved in glossy new archival-grade Brodart cover. A sound copy.. Book

Schoeps, Hans Joachim
AUS FRÜHCHRISTLICHER ZEIT: RELIGIONSGESCHICHTLICHE UNTERSUCHUNGEN
pages; Paper Wrappers. 8-vo. 320 pages. Includes several indexes. First edition. In German. Hans-Joachim Schoeps (1909-1980) was a German Jewish professor and scholar of religious history who taught at the University of Erlangen. Most of his writings deal with primitive Christianity, and he in effect sought to bringing Judaism closer to Christianity (interesting, in that respect, was his belief, in and around 1933, that it was possible for German Jews to come to terms with National Socialism.) Wrappers scuffed, with slight sun damage. Some pages still uncut from printing. Otherwise, good condition (GER-41-35)
