Born in Budapest, he went to Paris in 1928. From 1936 to 1960 he was a professor of Bible and theology at the Seminaire Isralite of France. He lectured at the Ecole Pratique de Hautes Etudes at the Sorbonne in 1937, and was appointed director of studies in 1954. From 1940 he was active in the oriental department of the Institut de Recherches et d'Histoire des Textes and from 1950, edited the Revue des Etudes Juives. In 1970 he was appointed professor at the University of Paris (Sorbonne) . He wrote numerous works, notably on Arabic and Jewish philosophy. On the Kabbalah, and on Arab manuscripts. The Hrvatskog Domobrana, was a Buenos Aires Journal founded by Branimir Jelic in 1931. It was the Argentinian outlet of the organization by the same name which "advocated Croatia's independence from the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and later linked itself with the Ustashas." (Wikipedia, 2017) Includes photographs on the first page of both Ante Pavelic, the Nazi-supported fascist dictator who "pursued genocidal policies against ethnic and racial minorities such as Serbs, Jews, and Romani," (Wikipedia, 2017) before his rise to power, while he was a member of Parliament of Yugoslavia, as well as Vlatko Macek, then leader of the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS), who was refused the position of NDH Prime Minister when offered it by Nazi Germany and the Axis Powers. He was later sent to the Jasenovac concentration camp by Pavelic. 4 additional pages of photographs. OCLC lists no copies worldwide. Title page is torn with no text effected. Fernando Valls Taberner fue el primogénito de una de las familias de la oligarquía catalana que más ha abastecido, de miembros y de medios, al Opus Dei contribuyendo decisivamente a la puesta en marcha de la delegación barcelonesa del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas y avalando las exiguas actividades de la Obra en sus comienzos apostólicos en Cataluña. Su equilibrada simbiosis entre activismo religioso, investigación científica y fecunda actividad financiera y política, se inicia en los años de la República con sus escritos "Palabras del momento" de 1930 y "En las horas confusas" de 1934, reveladores de su pensamiento. En 1936 huyó de Barcelona refugiandose en la Italia de Mussolini y del Vaticano, donde realiza gestiones diplomáticas y financieras. A su vuelta al Burgos nacionalista en 1937 emprende, en compañía de Eugenio Montes, un periplo de propaganda por América del Sur a favor del Movimiento. En 1939 publica su última obra que lleva el expresivo título de "Reafirmación espiritual de España" en la que teoriza sobre el fascismo y los problemas regionales de su Cataluña natal, justificando el levantamiento contrarrepublicano.
