Collomp, Catherine (Editor)/ Groppo, Bruno (Editor)/ Abraham Plotkin
An American in Hitler's Berlin. Abraham Plotkin's Diary
University of Illinois Press, United States, 2008. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. This is the first published edition of the diary of Abraham Plotkin, an American labor leader of immigrant Jewish origin who lived in Berlin between November 1932 and May 1933. A firsthand account of the Weimar Republic's final months and the early rise of Nazi power in Germany, Plotkin's diary focuses on the German working class, the labor movement, and the plight of German Jews. Plotkin investigated Berlin's social conditions with the help of German Social-Democratic leaders whose analyses of the situation he records alongside his own. Most accounts of Hitler's rise to power emphasize political institutions by focusing on the Nazi party's clashes with other political forces. In contrast, Plotkin is especially attentive to socioeconomic factors, providing an alternative view from the left that stems from his access to key German labor and socialist leaders. Chronologically, the diary reports on the moment when Hitler's seizure of power was not yet inevitable and when leaders on the left still believed in a different outcome of the crisis, but it also includes Plotkin's account of the complete destruction of German labor in May 1933.

Comité National Pour L'Érection Et La Conservation D'Un Mémorial De La Déportation Au Struthof
NATZWILLER STRUTHOF
Softbound. 8vo. 83 pages. 24 cm. Cover title: Concentration camp Natzwiller Struthof. Written by the National Committee for the Erecting and the Preservation of a Memorial for Deportation at the Struthof. Translated from the French, this booklet described the history of the Struthof camps; includes extensive photographs. About the camps: On 21 April 1941, near the village of Struthof, the Nazis opened a concentration camp, KL-Natzweiler. The central camp, the only concentration camp in France, was located in the then annexed Alsace département. Its annexes, scattered over the 2 sides of the Rhine, made up a network of nearly 70 camps, more or less large. Of the nearly 52, 000 detainees of KL-Natzeiler, about 35, 000 did not go through the central camp. A labour camp supporting the Nazi war industry, it was also used for medical experiments by Nazi professors from the Reich University of Strasbourg. On 23 November 1944, the Allies discovered the site evacuated by the Nazis since September. Some deportees from the camp annexes had their sufferings prolonged in the spring of 1945 on the "Death Marches". From 1941 to 1945, the KL-Natzweiler was one of the most murderous camps of the Nazi system. Nearly 22, 000 deportees died there. Subjects: Struthof (Concentration camp) World War, 1939-1945 Atrocities. Light shelf wear. Very good + condition. (HOLO2-95-15)

Comité Voor Bijzondere Joodsche Belangen
DE ONTRECHTING DER JODEN IN DUITSCHLAND
1st Edition thus. Original Illustrated photographic Wrappers with Photographs of Anti-Jewish Nazi Signs and Propaganda. 8vo. 28 pages ; 22 cm. In Dutch. Title translates into English as, The Disenfranchisement of the Jews in Germany. An early publication by the Committee for Special Jewish Affairs (CBJB) . The (CBJB) was an organization for Jewish refugees in the Netherlands from April 1933 to March 1941
The CBJB mediated in matters concerning emigration, exit visas and residence permits. (Wikipedia, 2017) It was founded by David Cohen and Abraham Asscher, and is more frequently associated with The Committee for Jewish Refugees (Dutch: Comité voor Joodsche Vluchtelingen) , a Dutch charitable organization which was an offshoot of the CBJB. The committee(s) , at first,
managed the Jewish refugees who were fleeing the Nazi regime in Germany. These refugees were crossing the border from Germany into the Netherlands. The Committee largely decided which of the refugees could remain in the Netherlands. The others generally returned to Germany. For the refugees permitted to stay, it provided support in several ways. These included direct financial aid and assistance with employment and with further emigration. (Wikipdia, 2017) An earlier, scarcer publication of the same name was issued in 1933, with reports on Antisemitic activity in Germany during the first year of the Nazi regime. SUBJECT(S) : Jews -- Germany -- History -- Persecutions. 1933-1945. National socialism. OCLC lists 19 copies worldwide. Pen mark on corner of front cover, otherwise very good condition. Commission of Inquiry on War Criminals
Commission of Inquiry on War Criminals Report, Part 1 (One): Public, 30 December 1986
966 pages. Bibliography. Lists of Documents, Primary and Secondary Sources. List of cases cited. "Includes 822 opinions on individual cases." - from page iv. "Between 1971 and 1986, public statements by outside interveners concerning alleged war criminals residing in Canada have spread increasingly large and grossly exaggerated figures as to their estimated number. Even leaving aside the figure of 6,000 ventured in 1986 by Mr. Simon Wiesenthal, and before a detailed examination of each of the cases appearing on the Commission's Master List, this list already shows no less than a 400 per cent over-estimate by the proponents of those figures." - from page 249. In one instance, government resources were used to investigate the allegation that a certain individual was the infamous Dr. Mengele. The Commission determined this individual had different coloured eyes than the doctor and stood 6'-3", whereas Dr. Mengele was only 5'-8" in height. Average wear. Binding intact. Reading creases to spine. Unmarked but for light pencil tick marks in bibliography. Numerous page corners were folded. Prior owner was a smoker. A sound working copy. Book
