Nombreuses illustrations dont des hors-texte en couleurs. Les bordures des plats sont légèrement passés, le f. de faux-titre a jauni en marge, sinon très bon état.

Tours, Alfred Mame & Fils éditeurs, 1900, 1 vol. grand in-4° (32,6 x 26,6 cm) de 92 p. Répertoire de citations fameuses et emblématiques des grands personnages au pouvoir en France, de Clovis I à la troisième République. Troisième des sept éditions mises à jour que compte cet ouvrage entre 1896 et 1922. Toutes les pages de texte sont ornées d'illustrations monochromes se mêlant harmonieusement au texte, dans une composition à chaque fois renouvelée. 19 planches hors-texte en couleur rythment l'ouvrage. Quelques planches hors-texte monochromes. Ouvrage de pédagogie historique et formation patriotique à l'usage des jeunes français. Edouard Trogan (1861-1934) : auteur. Critique musical puis journaliste, rédacteur et enfin directeur du journal 'Le correspondant' de 1894 à 1934. A écrit sous les pseudonymes : Louis Joubert (1861-1934) et Édouard De Saint-Hugon (1861-1934). Job, Jacques Onfroy de Bréville, dit (1858-1931) : illustrateur, parfois caricaturiste, français. Dessins d'un grand raffinement graphique et coloré. De nombreux détails vestimentaires ou de décor complètent l'expressivité des personnages.
