A volte a David capita di avere delle visioni, nei suoi sogni vive gli eventi prima che accadano. È lì infatti che incontra, ancor prima che nella realtà, Sandy, la donna di cui si innamorerà. Quando in una premonizione vede la figlia Grace morirgli tra le braccia durante un'alluvione, David, sconvolto, non riesce a pensare ad altro che a scappare e allontanarsi dalla sua famiglia, dalla sua casa e cosi dal suo destino.
