Una volta finito il conflitto, poi, l'unico nemico che Hitler non avrebbe imprigionato ma "lasciato comodamente vivere in una fortezza, con la possibilità di scrivere le sue memorie e di dipingere", sarebbe stato Winston Churchill, ovvero l'ufficiale britannico che durante la Prima guerra mondiale ritraeva le rovine di un villaggio mentre il Fuhrer, sulla sponda opposta del fiume, immortalava una chiesa.
