Extremely rare first edition of this first physics textbook ever published in the Ottoman Empire, including 32 modern physical subjects in 21 chapters with two articles, by early physics and math teachers in the Mühendishâne [i.e. Ottoman Engineering School] Mehmed Emin Dervish Pasha. This work, prepared to be taught in engineering schools, is valuable for its plain expression, variety of the first subjects in the period it deals with, and its content enriched with illustrations. This rare book is very important to be the first textbook to cover the following topics: Ratio of forces to velocities and their effects on objects, centripetal force, lever, pulley, inclined plane, weight, the pressure of liquids, the balance of gases, barometer, manometer, theoretical views on some musical instruments, heat dissipation force of objects, heat increase forces, thermometer, etc. Dervish Pasha also included in his book the pioneering experiments that he had done in Muhendishane, which attracted a lot of attention during his time in the Ottoman scientific society. Mehmed Emin Rauf Pasha was an Ottoman industrialist and statesman, who was Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire twice under Mahmud II (reign 1808-1839) and three times under Abdülmecit I (reign 1839-1861) during the Tanzimat period of reformation. He was one of the most prominent figures in funding the Crimean War. According to Shaw and Shaw, Mehmed Emin Rauf Pasha and his predecessor, Mustafa Resit Pasha, "acted mainly as mediators" for Mahmud II, "attempting to balance conflicting interests while participating in the factional activities and disputes endemic in Ottoman governmental life.". Buyuruldu (or Buyrultu, Buyurildi, Buyurdu etc.) is the order of an Ottoman grand vizier, vizier, beglerbegi , defterdâr , or other high officials to a subordinate. The term is derived from the word 'buyuruldi', it has been ordered, in which the order usually ends and which gradually developed into a conventional sign. Buyuruldus are of two main types: a) decisions written in the margin (der kenâr) of an incoming petition or report, often ordering that a fermân (firman) (or berât , etc.) be issued to a certain effect... (Brill, Encyclopedia of Islam). "Menzils" were early post organizations in the Ottoman Empire before the Reform period. In the Ottoman Empire, every 35 kilometers - the distance one could travel in a day - on the main roads, there were buildings called "menzil" or "menzilhane" (destination, post station). Surrounded by walls, these yards had a hostelry, barn, market, bath, and restaurant. Hosted at the complex for free, travelers shopped, took baths and fed their animals, and continued their journeys the following day. At the complex, officials - registered and paid by the state - served the guests. Within time, menzils turned into bazaars where locals sold their products. Then, villages and towns started to pop up around them. Commodities needed by the army for expeditions were preserved at menzils and soldiers were accommodated at these facilities if needed during expeditions. Mailmen operating between two faraway destinations changed their horses with those waiting at menzils and went on their route without losing time. (Source: Ekrem Bugra Ekinci). It's written on paper with 'ahar'. Used black ink only. It includes approx. 63 lines on front and verso of the paper and two buyuruldus. Different calligraphic "riq'a" styles by different bureaucrats and Grand Vizier and owner of a petition (Bende, Osman). Grand vizier's handwriting is in 'diwanî' script. An extremely rare autograph manuscript is a good example of the Ottoman state organization in the early 19th century.

Besides the usual demographic scheme, there are 28 European states on the plate: Germany, France, Spain, Russia (Soviets), England, Italy, Poland, Romania, Holland, Norway, Estonia, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Switzerland, Lithuania, Yugoslavia, Portugal, The United States of America, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark, Latvia, Belgium, Greece, Finland, Avrupa-yi Türkî [i.e. Turkey in Europe], Albania. Mehmed Esref (1846-1912) was a Turkish / Ottoman military cartographer and educator in the Ottoman military school [Mekteb-i Harbiye] active in the first part of the 20th century, and he prepared and published many separate maps and atlases more besides this one.

He continued this duty until the abolition of the Sultanate on 4 November 1922. Thus he was the last 'al-Shura' of the Ottoman Empire. After the proclamation of the Republic he left the state. When two collectors decided to focus on postal forms, they noticed the near absence of informative sources. Thus began the first broad study of the postal forms issued by the Ottoman Empire and Republic of Turkey. Microhistory of the Turkish Posts identifies and catalogues various types of postal forms rooted in the Ottoman era. Going well beyond technical information, the authors interpret the physical objects as well as the messages they carry. This enables them to draw intriguing linkages to political, economic, cultural, and social developments, opening new windows into Turkish history. This first volume reviews the emergence of postal forms during the Ottoman era, then covers the thirty-year period beginning in 1920 the year when a nationalist government in Ankara started challenging the authority of the Istanbul-based monarchy. The War of Independence saw the conversion of Ottoman postal forms to nationalist postal matter through either hand- or machine-made overprints; ne types were also produced. Highlighting usages of such rare items, the investigation continues with fascinating series produced up to the onset of bona fide multi-party governance in 1950.

Marsili:I threw myself into a mosque in the city of Buda that is burning up. It was previously a metropolitan bishop dedicated to S. Stefano, the king of Hungary. I picked up books on two small shelves there. Marsili entered a cultural atmosphere that began with Hezarfen Efendi during his time in Istanbul. Because of his many political, diplomatic, cultural, military aspects allowed him to increase communication with different ethnical and intellectual environments such as Armenian, jewish, slav and greek people. To Marsili, the danube river was a natural border that divided the Orient world and the western world. The Turks would soon sea that he was right. The Turks could not move along the danube much and did not capture Vienna which was on the other size of the danube. Marsili always made stratetic plans based on his observations of the danube river. Marsili was known by the English politicans and scientists, as an important researcher, cartographer and scientist in his own right. Therefore, the English scientists and readers were informed about him and his work. Moreover, the two dictionaries published in the 18th century in English included in his biography. First and only edition of this extremely rare pamphlet written by Turkish Islamist-Nationalist journalist Eygi, who criticizes the understanding of Islam in the 1960s, through the symbol of the first fictional utopian land and vision in Turkish literature called "Darürrahat" [i.e. The Door of Peace] in Ismail Gaspirinskiy (1851-1914)'s book "Darürrahat Müslümanlari" [i.e. The Muslims of Darrürrahat] published in 1887, in Kazan. Mehmed Sevket Eygi was a Turkish journalist, writer, columnist, and Holocaust denier. He had Islamist-nationalist views. After graduating from university in 1956, he worked as a translator at the Directorate of Religious Affairs for two years. Eygi began publishing the daily Bugün newspaper and its publishing house in 1966, where this book will also be published as the third book of the publishing house. While making this criticism, he used the first utopia text of Turkish literature called "Darürrahat Muslims" by Gaspirinskiy as a symbol. Ismail Gaspirinskiy (or Gaspirali) was an ideologist, author, journalist, publisher, educator, and major. Gaspirali's work called Muslims of Darurrahat (Comfortable Country) was published in 1891 after the first issuance in Tercuman Newspaper as the continuation of Letters of Frengistan.
